There is a lot of pronoun preferences being exerted nowadays, but why has no one embraced the gender neutral pronoun “one”.
I kind of like it.
- at an ice cream shop “Does one prefer chocolate or vanilla”.
- At work “Can one get that report in by Friday?”
One can all use it and go around sounding like royalty.
That reminds me of Billy Connolly talking about he and his wife in bed and he wanted to ask her if she was interested in having sex so he said " One would like to give one one. "
I'm sticking to "he", "she" and their variants.
share“No one” is very much an overstatement. One should avoid such sweeping statements. One USED to argue that “‘he’ is the universal pronoun, but I rejected this years ago as being sexist. My choice, in lieu of “he” is “s/he,” of my own devise. “Their” and “they” are plural pronouns, so illiterate when applied to a singular; and transgender can go fuck itself; though I realize what I said really only applies to hermaphrodites.
