People are stupid πŸ˜’

Frozen food supermarket Iceland has started selling Carolina Reaper burgers, sausages and chicken.

It's the hottest chilli in the world.

My friend loves spicey food, he tried these and omg he was sweating so much! He couldn't feel his lips for about an hour after.

So obviously he wanted to buy some more! He went into Iceland but couldn't find any. He asked an employee where they were and they told him they've had to pull all the stock because of complaints about the heat.

Wtf people?!!! It's the worlds hottest chilli. What were you expecting ?!

And even if it is spicier than expected, why complain about it? It's clear by the warning on the front that this is a HOT chilli.

i don't get the spicy food thing

well, i wouldn't blame people for that. if it was too hot for them to eat, then it's not crazy for them to complain.

all human institutions are capable of doing dumb things, but more often than not, grocery stores will respond to consumer demand with alacrity. if the stuff was selling, they'd presumably stock it. if it wasn't selling that well, and the stuff that did sell was coming back with complaints, it's not crazy for them to stop selling.

personally, i have no tolerance for heat. i know lots of people dig it, but the appeal is completely lost on me. all i feel is pain. when people say how much they love it, it's like they're saying 'i really love having nails pounded into my feet. there's this shop down the street that does it for me. we're all going friday. you in? it's so great.'

and i just have to take their word on the fact that they love having nails pounded into their feet. they're entitled to their preferences!

Blame tort law. If enough complaints came in, then the store was probably scared lawsuits would be next. Reminds me of the lady who sued McDonald when she spilled hot coffee on herself and got 3rd degree burn injuries, had to have multiple skin grafts. I suppose it would only be a matter of time before people start suing over gastrointestinal disorders linked to this extreme chili. Not everyone can digest food like that and it might not affect them until after they’ve eaten it.

McDonalds was at fault because they made a product not safe for human consumption, had heated the water above their own company's recommendation, and the specific restaurant had been repeatedly warned they were serving the coffee too hot but refused to fix the practice. Nobody should receive third degree burns from a cup of coffee.

1. Hot peppers of all stripe each have their own unique taste. Enduring that heat is the price for that wonderful taste. Not all of them are worth it but some really are. Like the Habanero. Fantastic flavor! It isn't Reaper nor Ghost level of pain but it is definitely the gatekeeper between real heat players and the spice wimps. Ghost peppers also have a fantastic flavor. I am not into that level of heat but I do like to cook with tiny amounts of some chilis like it for the signature taste. High spice levels work in Indian and Mexican dishes.

2. Spicy enthusiasts are enjoying the mild endorphin high. Eat enough very hot spicy food and you will feel a low level buzz. Kinda like having a glass of wine with your meal but built in.

My wife and I discovered that if we order Indian food "extra spicy," we tend to get a wholly better dish from our favorite restaurant. Like they weren't doing full-on traditional cooking for fear of repelling the white patron taste bud. Our willingness to eat it spicy meant we were game for the authentic experience. They loved us forever more. There have been times when we felt like we had had more than a few drinks by meal's end. If my eyebrows are loaded with sweat, then I'm probably spice-high.

It's the same shit you have with drugs. Since some people can't have some weed without going crazy, let's ban it from the market!

Here, some people just can't have some hot chili without having problems because it was too hot, so let's ban it from the market!
