How do I cool down 😩

It got up to 35°c today ( about 100°f ) it is still 28°/86°f (ish). I cant cool down. I have my fan on but it's just blowing hot air at me. I had a damp cloth on my head earlier which did help but it's not practical for sleeping.
Don't have air con so what else can I try that i may not have thought of already?

***EDIT***

Thank you all for the suggestions. Gonna have a cold shower and sleep with a damp towel under my neck.
🤞

I live without air conditioning. When it gets bad, I wear a wet dish towel around my neck and sit in front of the fan - as in, I do practically nothing around the house. I sleep with a fan blowing across me, too. It's not ideal, but it helps.

reply

If you have a bath tub fill it with cold water and submerge yourself with a good book for 30-60 minutes

Then, go to bed in the least amount of clothes possible (I'm aware that line reads pervy but try it)

Before I had air conditioning this was my go to cool down move

reply

Not pervy at all lol 😉 I'll try anything atm.

reply

Take a cold bath/shower to reduce your body temp.

reply

Yes, a cool shower right before bed helps me sleep better.

reply

I put the cool towel around my neck, and that helps a bit too. Also, like others have said a cool bath or shower. If you don't like to have a bath in the evening, a cold foot bath can help too.

reply

Or a person could buy one of those little kiddie pools, fill it, and sit in it to stay cool. Not suitable for indoor use, though. 😉

reply

If your humidity is lowish 10% get a 100$ swamp cooler. You fill it with water and when you run a little A/C it makes nice cold wet air.

reply

Another way to do a "swamp cooler" is to get a big block of ice or bowl of of ice cubes, and set the fan to blow into it or across it. It'll blow cooler air into the room, and can actually lower the temperature of an entire room.

I grew up in California without air conditioning. The other big thing to do is to pull the curtains and close the windows fairly early in the day, keep the cooler air inside and prevent radiant heat from the sun from getting in. Yes, it makes your home feel hot, claustrophobic, and generally miserable, but it's still cooler than it would be if you had the curtains or windows open.

reply

Well I consider myself the expert. Its 105 here and I fill my swamp cooler with 4 gallons of water and run it in my bedroom while I read or sleep. I can keep the A/C at 75 in the rest of the house then:)

not helping but thanks 😄

I read that as ned Kelly for some reason lol.

reply

“I read that as Ned Kelly”

That makes it even funnier 🤣

reply

Must be the heat melting my brain 😅

reply

You’re using Canadian temp. The small one . I would really suggest getting a portable a c unit. Well worth it .

reply

°c in Britain . I was always taught to double it and add 30 to get approx °f🤷‍♀️

reply

We use c in Canada too. I don’t care if no one else gets what it is ! Let them do the math !

reply

😄👍

reply

You guys do km or miles per hour ?

reply

Miles per hour.

reply

That’s cause your steering wheels are on the passenger side of the car .

reply

??!

reply

I’m Britain are the steering wheels not on the right side of the car ?

reply

Careful 🤨

reply

That’s an honest question !

reply

Lol, my bad, I read that as right, as in correct, rather than the opposite of left.

So the answer to your original question is yes.

reply

no her original question was about km because mph and wouldn’t count as an original question on a new line of questioning

reply

You mean your original question, lol. Her original question was, ‘how do I cool down?’

reply

Crap.

reply

Bucky how many stones do you weigh? And now tell me what the hell a stone is:)

reply

I don’t even know how much a fifth of gin is !

reply

🤣 Thanks, I needed a laugh!

reply

And what it is a fifth of ? Can’t I just have the whole thing ?

reply

I've always wondered the same thing!

reply

Don’t you prefer something not gin ?

reply

My adult beverage of choice is lemonade with a slug of vodka in it. It works in that infamous iced tea, too.

Oh, great. Now you're going to ask me what a slug is...

reply

That I actually know

reply

Whew! It's however much the moment demands, right?

No measuring - just count the "glugs" from the bottle.

reply

YOU SPRINKLE SALT ON THEM AND THEY DIE🙂

reply

I thought it was setting out a dish of beer for them that nixed the little buggers. Cheap beer, of course.

reply

OH...THATS WHY SHOGUN IS ALWAYS CRAWLING AROUND YOUR YARD ON ALL FOURS.😃

reply

🤣

I won't tell him you said this...

reply

Oh, maybe it'll get you to your fifth drink??

(Straw grasping, I know.) ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

reply

Haha !

And the gin is on there ?

reply

Are you sure you’re not a librarian ?

reply

I am not, but I do love my local library! Books, movies, music! What's not to like? A world of entertainment, and it's free.
