Led Zeppelin or early Van Halen?

To 1984.

?

Led Zeppelin

Van Halen wouldn't even make my Top 100 bands.

reply

I really like the energy of their early work.

Don't think VH are big w/ Millenials, most just don't get their sound.

It's a tougher question for most Xers who remember the time when they were the biggest Rock and Roll band in the world.

reply

Maybe, just not for this Xer :)

Incidentally, I would prefer to listen to AC/DC over both bands.

reply

Great band..now that's energy.

reply

Please don't ask me to choose between AC/DC and Led Zeppelin - I just love them both so much!

reply

I know! I guess people could agrue that Led Zep were more influential but AC/DC have always been my go-to band for heavy rock. Their 2010 Black Ice Tour which I saw in Wellington was one of my all time best concert experiences, incredible show.

reply

Great live band - first saw them in 1982 and the last time was in Dublin, 2015.

Funny story: we landed in Brisbane last August and I went to pick up our rental car. I put my phone on the counter and the lady behind the desk saw the AC/DC cover and said, "AC/DC fan eh? Well, that means you qualify for an upgrade." Bless her, she gave us a nice big SUV, which was just as well considering that the missus had used every kilogram of our luggage allowance, lol.

reply

I love Van Halen, but Led Zeppelin are out of their league.

reply

thats a funny interpretation of rocknroll, but neither a 70s nor 80s sound

reply

It was really about Eddie's unique guitar sound and style, Along with arguably the best front man since Mick Jagger, David Lee Roth (second on my all time list of Rock and Roll front men)

reply

"thats a funny interpretation of rocknroll"

that's what some folks used to say about this when an older standard was used
