Apocalypto is a masterpiece
It is abhorrent that it got so little attention because of Mel Gibson’s coinciding drunken meltdown, I don’t really care who he is as a person he’s a brilliant filmmaker and that’s one of his best

sharei watched it for the first time a few weeks ago and gave 8/10
sharei haven't seen it to this day. it came out at a time when i wasn't paying attention to movies very much, and it never really worked its way onto my radar after that. but i finally watched hacksaw ridge this past weekend and thought it was absolutely terrific, & apocalypto is now at the top of my must-see list.
when i join amazon prime next month, this is the first film i'm going to watch.
Or buy it legitimately haha, it's worth it.
shareI haven't seen it. Not because I'm an advocate for cancelling Gibson, it just didn't really appeal to me.
I might check it out one day. The next Gibson project I want to see though is Dragged Across Concrete. I know he didn't direct it, but I loved Bone Tomahawk and I always enjoy Gibson's acting, so I'm looking forward to see him in a S. Craig Zahler film.
i really like dragged..., but it is a bit overlong. still absolutely worth a watch, lots of things to enjoy in it, and gibson is very good.
it's my least favourite of the three films zahler's directed to date, but i really like all three films a lot. i think he's the most exciting director going, and i hope he makes a billion more films.
Excellent movie. I was at the screening where he exchanged some heated words with a professor about the movie's historical accuracy. Things got heated and the night ended early. I never got to ask him my question.
shareWhat was the question?
shareSomething about his experience shooting with a variety of different camera formats, particularly why he decided to shoot some of it on film, some on digital video. Nerd stuff.
shareYou watched Apocolypto with Mel Gibson.
shareI was sitting in the back of the movie theater and he was seated towards the front, so it's not like we were rubbing elbows. Still, I'll always remember his commanding delivery of "Listen, Lady--" before the entire sound system cut off and everyone was abruptly ushered outside.
shareI, I, I, omg. Speechless.
shareListen, lady
Epic, just the most epic thing I have ever heard
Excellent movie, lots of action and horror
shareI liked it. Although I did notice that there were no Jews in it. Classic Gibs!
