What do you do for a living?

I already know probably more than half of the responses wont be serious!

Me: Area Director for two neighborhood publications for affluent neighborhoods.

Truth be told most of the people I make a living off of are snooty arrogant rich white people. But people love reading about what their neighbors are up to. The newsletter thing we distribute once a month is given to houses in affluent neighborhoods, with stories about these people. My money comes from the ads people pay me to put in the newsletter. Businesses that cater to rich people. I secretly don't like the people that read this stuff, but it's given me a great career with awesome residual income. And the ads are so valuable I am able to trade small ads for services. The local home contractor put new hardwood flooring in my kitchen for 6 months of free ads.

So I love the perks of my job.

Factory worker. I work at a saw sharpening joint. Welding bandsaws, sharpening all sorts of blades and knives. I actually like it, but not something I want to do forever, not much money in it.

I used to work as a cinema projectionist for over 25 years, and I started a DVD rental store from scratch and owned and operated that for 10 years.

I've made a couple of short films in the past but never had enough time to pursue this. Now I finally have the time (since those above occupations no longer exist!) I plan to make more shorts. That's the main thing I plan to spend my time with.

i used to be an accountant for a small division of a mammoth corporation. i didn't like it much (though i never turned down a paycheck!) and probably wasn't good at it, mostly, and it was a relief when they turfed me about 4.5 years ago.

i now work part time in a low-level finance position for a local charity. minimal pressure and it covers my expenses, which is all i want at this point.
