What movies should I watch on my vacation? I've been working my regular schedule during this lockdown and am on vacation starting tomorrow May 24 until May 30. I can't make decisions for myself and rely on you friends to tell me what movies I should watch. Thanks for your input!
Don't you have an account on that site where you can make lists of what you've seen? Can you post that so we know at least some of what you've seen? That way we can get a better idea of what to suggest because of your taste or not suggesting movies you've already seen.
:) Good going to add that info to your OP. I'll take a look at them later.
Meanwhile, if you've never seen Grand Canyon, it's excellent. Thought provoking. Hey, Lawrence Kasdan, Danny Glover, Kevin Klein, and Steve Martin 👌
It's a very silly movie! If you enjoyed it, you can always check out other movies by Dick Maas. He's made quite a few cheesy horror movies. And also the popular comedy franchise "Flodder!".
there are a lot of really great films leaving criterion at the end of the month that might be worth watching if you haven't seen them:
3:10 to yuma (i usually don't get into westerns, but i really like this one)
wuthering heights (haven't seen this version, but i really like andrea arnold's fish tank, so i'm probably going to give this a go tomorrow)
meek's cut-off
wendy and lucy
fail safe
the last picture show
repulsion
the pawnbroker (really good drama, one of the first films to depict the life of a holocaust survivor)
in honor of indie film-maker lynn shelton, who sadly died last week at the far too young age of 54, you could watch:
humpday
your sister's sister (both on tubitv)
or
outside in - streaming on netflix
thunder road is a really well done, very odd but also very sweet cringe comedy that's on netflix.
Thanks for the suggestions. I have seen The Last Picture Show and have it on dvd and I've seen Repulsion and own the Criterion blu ray. I haven't seen the other ones you mentioned.
i also should have mentioned that, if you have shudder, there is a really fun, weird little short film that was added this past week called 'blood machines.' it's not much story-wise, but it is absolutely fantastic to look at, like an old heavy metal magazine captured on film. it's only about 45 minutes long after you filter out all the credits (for some reason they split it up into three episodes rather than running it as one short film). highly recommended it you have shudder.
I've seen Midnight Express and thought it was just alright. I loved Aguirre: Wrath of God. I haven't seen
Come and See, but have heard a lot of great things and been meaning to get around to it.
I've seen The Diving Bell and the Butterfly and thought it was good. I really liked What Ever Happened to Baby Jane and have the dvd. I don't think I have seen Departures but it sounds really interesting. I haven't seen Le trou, but it looks good.
