1. Zapped! (1982)...silly but deliciously daffy 80s fun...right at 5.0
2. Two Moon Junction (1988) ...I was young, but Sherilyn Fenn, my goodness...
3. Johnny Be Good (1988) ....just an awful sports movie, but a cast with 5 eventual Oscar nominees, plus cameos from Howard Cosell and Jim McMahon
Dishonorable Mention: Losin' It (1983)- more teenage hijinks... Future-Kill (1985)....tried to cash in on Terminator craze....and FAILED!
Wow, the 80s just killed it in the realm of the redonkulous...
A Wrinkle in Time (2018)
Plan 9 from Outer Space (1959)
Attack of the Killer Tomatoes! (1978)
king kelly - fun, energetic, sleazy...all the things i like. 5/10 on imdb. i gave it a 4/5
kuso (2017) like if john waters tried to remake 'kentucky fried movie' as a melt film. 5/10 on imdb, & again i gave it a 4/5
the oregonian (2011) undeniably boring & annoying at times. kinda like david lynch fan fiction, really. but i still dug it. 4.2 on imdb, and i gave it a 4/5.
I have some nostalgia for Grease 2, even though I haven't seen it in many years. In the spring of '83 (I was 8) a family from California moved into the house next door and we soon became friends with them. My siblings and I would often go over there and watch TV, because they not only had cable, but HBO too. In the summer of '83 I remember three movies being in frequent rotation on HBO: Rocky III, Superman II, and Grease 2. In this HBO guide from 1983, you can see that all three of those movies were playing in early July:

In '83, before most people had a VCR or premium movie channels, and long before things like Netflix were even dreamed of, being able to watch a fairly new movie at home was a pretty big deal, so those three movies made quite an impression on me.
As for my "favorite movies rated below 5 on IMDB," I don't have any, though I have at least one that's rated below 6 (Lake Placid [1999]).
