True or False: 1980's style fashion and 1980's-style music like hair metal DOES NOT belong in the modern era.

Music and fashion in the 1980's sucked and having extremely messy and long hair and dressing up like the guys in Poison is NOT cool or attractive.

False.

reply

True. 80s movies, music and fashion is the absolute worst of any decade.

I think Steel Panther have been doing extremely well for themselves, but of course they are kinda a parody of hair metal.

There was a wide variety of fashions and music in the 1980s, so while I'm not a fan of a lot of the mainstream stuff of the period, there's more to it than that.

There are a lot of fashion fads from that era I never wanta see again in my lifetime, such as:

- unitards
- ugly short pageboys with bangs
- that mushroom cut so many people put on their poor young boys
- suspenders
- long "girly" hair on men, complete with curls that could have only come from a perm or curlers
- big bubble glasses
- huge beards mixed in with bushy hair
- aviator glasses (got sooooo sick of seeing those)
- suspenders
- mop hair (like what Baby wore in "Dirty Dancing")
- mullets of any kind
- short permed hair that is shoved up and made to look like a mushroom cloud on top of one's head
- vests with turtlenecks and "mom" jeans that are tucked so high up that they cut the mom's torso in half

Note: I was only alive in the 80s for 3 years, so much of what I know of 80s fashion comes from tv shows/movies of that era, and seeing the first half of the 90s behaving like "The 80s 2.0."

80’s cars and trucks are in style. Tretorns and K-Swiss are in style. Aviators and wayfarers are in style. Vinyl records and cassettes are even in style. The list goes on.
