Growing a beard is for ugly people

Why would you cover up the moneymaker.

reply

i can't stand the feeling of being shaven. never have. i just don't feel right unless i have at least a few days of growth.

so i keep a fairly closely trimmed beard at all times.

is it ugly? probably. i'm too old & tired & generally sort of f*cked up to really care about such matters now.

not to prattle on about myself, but my sister recently sent me a picture of myself from our dad's funeral - about 20 years ago. and i couldn't help but feel a bit bummed looking at the younger, foxier version of myself.

not that there's anything unique in that. we're all growing older instead of growing younger. very unfair.

Especially true for women

From personal experience as a middle middle-aged man the skin is not as taunt for shaving purposes versus being younger so it is more prone to nicks and cuts. I let shaving go to twice a week and once I let it go for a full week so I had a definite beard at the end of one week. I think that I look better without the facial hair but look even better without cuts for letting it go on occasion.

Agreed
The 'nicks' really bleed out and get gross...beards are a bit too much work

Modesty.

Warmth.

No.

At this point beards are so played out they’re not even impressive anymore. Like tattoos.

Used to be only bikers and sailors had them, now everyone has to look ‘cool.’

reply

Most guys I know tout them to hide baby faces, not ugly faces. They give the bearer a more mature and more masculine appearance, not necessarily a hotter one.

reply

This is true. Studies have actually shown exactly this result.
