Movies where you cheer for the bad guys.

I don't mean because their performances were so good. I'm talking about movies where you cheer for the people doing criminal activities.

Ocean's Eleven
The Godfather
Inception

No Mans Land
A kiss Before Dying
Black Christmas (2019)

With Black Christmas, I was rooting for the ending credits

reply

No Mans Land was great. One of those random movies I'm glad I stumbled upon.

reply

I first saw it as an extremely impressionable 8 year old. Took me over 20 years to find the title. Hard not to root for Chuck Sheen back then and it's just as hard now.

I believe the tagline was "get ready to root for the bad guy".

reply

Yes indeed. :)

Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid

Internal Affairs - Even though Dennis Peck is horrible bastard, his charm and smoothmess make him even more sinister. The way he manupulate and seduce women and people in general is enjoyable to watch.

Hannibal ;)

The Thomas Crown Affair - 1968 version.

👍

Almost every single modern movie.

But for older films:
The Sting
The Italian Job
Godzilla movies

reply

Why The Sting? Lonnegan was pretty awful person, with no redeeming qualities.

reply

Yeah, true. I was thinking on OP's "I'm talking about movies where you cheer for the people doing criminal activities." So I thought about them cheating and scamming and I forgot who the actual bad guy was.
I officially retract that from the list sans-edit.
Replace with A Few Good Men.

reply

I figured. Newman and Redford are bud guys in movie. Only this time they cheat even worse bad guy.

reply

The funny thing about Godzilla is that humans created him. From the 1954 original at least.

reply

I saw the original Japanese film at an art house theater. It's a very different tone from the Raymond Burr version. There is a real pathos to Godzilla. One feels bad for him.

reply

I recall it was American chemical weapon that created him. I always looked at him like he was seeking revenge.
