Millinials, who is the 'tough guy' movie actor of your generation?

The Greatest Generation had -John Wayne,Kirk Douglas, Humphrey Bogart

Boomers had- Clint Eastwood, Lee Marvin, Charles Bronson

Gen X had - Bruce Willis, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sylvester Stallone

Millinials have.....?

What male actors do you think fit this bill?

none

Hugh Jackman could count.

Hugh Jackman is in his 50s.

True, It’s just he still looks so good I forget about that. But I think you are mistaking generations.millenials are not the teens or 20 something of today millennials are us who were born in the 80s but we grew up with Pierce Brosnan as James Bond and the Disney reinnacence.

We millennials still saw the change from Cassette to compact disc, still had VHS and some of us still knew the Betamax.

Chris Hemsworth.

Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson comes to mind, that's a good action star right there!

Vin Diesel.

What about the foreign markets? Do we have a new kung fu bad ass I don't know about? I haven't been keeping up with the martial arts actioners.

Donnie Yen.

Jason Statham.

That is the only one I can think of, also Vin Diesel.

Being a millennial, I feel like a lot of ours were the same as Gen X because as I was growing up all of those guys were still doing movies that I grew up watching.

For the sake of the question though I'd probably say Gerard Butler, Tom Cruise, Jason Statham, Dwayne Johnson, Tom Hardy, Vin Diesel, and hell maybe even Matt Damon. I'd say Jason Momoa, but I think he's too new.

Thinking about this post overnight... the power shift from actors to franchise has diminished the tough guy role for your generation, the new superhero action movies with interchangeable actors has really had a effect.

Mission impossible, John Wick, James Bond, The Jason Bourne movies...still tough guy roles played by a more diverse actor.

Also the trend/fad of kick ass females in tough-chick roles has lessened opening roles for men.

Kind of sad in a way, men for generations have taken part of their cue as what makes a man from Hollywood male leads. For now it seems this is labeled as toxic masculinity by progressives in Hollywood (unless it is part of a money making franchise).

Yeah I was thinking a similar thing. A lot of the tough guy actors you mentioned from previous generations were mostly in tough guy type of movies. Most of the actors I mentioned that could be considered tough guys, are mostly tough guys based on a franchise or two, but not the majority of their careers.

It was a thought that came to my mind when making my initial comment honestly. Most people know the action heroes you mentioned for being in those kinds of movies while most of the guys I mentioned are known for more extensive things. Like a lot of people probably know Matt Damon from Good Will Hunting as opposed to knowing him from Jason Bourne.

When I was a kid I don't like Clint Eastwood's or Charles Bronson's movies. I would prefer Van Damme or anyone else that actually had abs. Even Superman and Batman were fat in the 60s and 70s.

I guess people's preferences changes. Fat belly'd mustachioed tough guys were out and ripped muscled guys were in.

Today's kids may have their own preferences. Maybe they don't like abs anymore. Or at least not as much. They want skinnier leaner more gangsta guys like who's that kid in Kingsman. Or superheroes, which some are still pretty ripped (Thor, Captain America, Aquaman, Shazam, Hulk.)

😄 Just trying to picture Clint Eastwood's noname character in the spaghetti westerns showing off his abs to Tuco..'There are two types of people in this world, those with abs and those who dig'
