What to do while stuck in the house.

Just cleaned and reorganized my freezer. Stacked everything by size and food category. Lots more room in there now.

Going to tackle difficult and/or time consuming recipes today, Gazpacho, homemade chicken soup, and bread.

reply

Is gazpacho the difficult one? I've never made it.

reply

Its time consuming because if you do it right you have to cut all the vegetables into a tiny diced cubes. Tomato, cucumber, jalapeno, celery, onion, red pepper.

reply

Then which is the difficult one? I know it's not chicken soup. I've only made bread a couple of times and while it makes the house smell divine while it's baking, it is time consuming.

I think I'll pass on making gazpacho, but you go, girl.

There is a lot one can do; play cards, board games, puzzles, and making love to your wife.

I'm actually home much of the time anyway, so this "quarantine" thing is not an issue for me. Plus, there's no rule against going outside in your backyard or walking the dog, so long as there isn't any close human interaction.

There are a surprising number of things you can do around the house when you have nowhere to go:

- play on the computer/laptop/tablet/phone
- watch tv
- clean the house
- walk the dog
- clean up any messes you've been neglecting for a while
- laundry (if you have your own washer/dryer)
- yard work
- gardening
- organize stuff around the house
- crafting items, if you're into that sort of thing
- sewing (if you have a machine and materials)

I cleaned and polished my exposed hardwood floor (most of the floor is taken up by carpet; soon I will shampoo it)
I cleaned under/behind my refrigerator and stove

I'm starting jigsaw puzzle # 4 today. So happy I went to Target and stocked up.

Had a fun drinking game night Saturday with my xhusband. We played backgammon, cards of humanity, and cribbage.
Pretty fun, we call it a stay..cation.

So I'll be strictly at home while waiting for test results, no more luxuriating in trips to the grocery store or walks in the park!

Cleaning, tackling the mending I never bother with, finishing craft projects, cataloguing and editing my nature photos, posting data to ebird and inaturalist. And yes, I'm getting those Ikea shelves finished after a year or more in the box, which will basically mean redecorating and re-organizing my living room. Well, it needs it.
