Anyone think this Coronavirus hysteria is ridiculous?
Every few years it’s a different pandemic that throws everyone into a worldwide panic. They all fizzle out within a month or two. Ebola was way more aggressive than this.

shareDefinitely unnecessary hysteria. Only time will tell if it’s any more worrisome than any of the other bullshit illness that were going to claim all our lives.
shareIt's usually every USA election year that some disease rears it's ugly head.
Don't sweat it. According to all the horrormongers the world will end in 11 years or so, anyway.
shareAre people insane? Just throw caution to the wind?
sharei think we should be concerned, certainly.
not because we're seeing the beginning of the stand, or because the illuminati has unleashed its population control mechanism.
but in the relatively short term, it could overwhelm health care systems. it seems a higher percentage of infected people require hospitalization than what's associated with the seasonal flu, and it appears to have higher rates of infectiousness, possibly much higher. that could result in massive overages in hospitals and spillover affects to people who have other health issues.
so it's probably a good idea to stock up a bit more than usual if you have prescription meds, & not a bad idea to buy some extra rice & dried beans & lentils.
there's what i think is a very good summary here.

Note to self - I need to stock up on extra cat food.
