What's your favourite film studio's opening logo?

I've always loved Universal Pictures. A nice shot of the world as it's moving back while "Universal" slowly creeps out from behind forming a nice symmetrical logo.

I had to check the date of your OP. We had this question recently, but to answer again MCU is my favorite. Marvel Cinematic Universe

I don't recall that post. Then again, it's easy to miss a post here.

Tie between 20th Century Fox and Marvel.

What's the one where the boy jumps off the jetty? I like that one.

DreamWorks as well with the boy fishing from the moon.

TSG with the arrow being shot and axes is dope.

Disney is great with the castle and fireworks behind.

DreamWorks was my favorite as a kid.

Michael Jackson designed that logo.

reply

For a second I thought you were just joking, but I've found this: "Some say Spielberg got the idea for the logo from Michael Jackson’s Neverland Valley Ranch logo which does look a lot like the Dreamworks SKG logo, the Neverland Valley Ranch logo was made some six years before the Dreamworks logo."

reply

Well Michael and Speilberg were meant to make a production company in the 80s and they weaselled MJ out of it, stealing his logo idea and tweaking it.

The Universal logo that gives me the most nostalgic feeling is at 0:55, which it says was the logo from 1963 - 1990

I really like the "Milky Way" effect

I like the 1991-1997 best.

20th Century Fox is a classic and bring back memories of 1970's Star Wars.

I also like the old Rank Films man hitting a gong, and from the 90's Morgan Creek.

reply

Disney is removing the "Fox" from 20th Century now that they've bought it.

reply

I like the marvel opening logo with the voices of our characters, reminding us past movies of the MCU.

reply

MGM's lion and the logo "Art for Art's Sake".

reply

They were all pretty good up until the 90's when they became a CGI fest. Movie studios, TV production companies, video game publishers... Some of them spent more time trying to make a cool intro for their stuff than they put into making good works.

reply

I can't think of any recent production companies where I've liked the intro.

reply

Nope. Me either.
