"Dangerous Liaisions" and "Valmont" were released within a year of each other. There were also two movies about Truman Capote and the writing of "In Cold Bloid" that were released within a year of each other.

In both cases, the film that was released first made more money and got more awards.

Valmont was always known as Milo's Foreman's worst film. It's nowhere near as respected as Dangerous Liaisons.

It's a totally a pretty good film, Annette Benning is quite stunning in the leading role.

But it does kind of fall apart at the end, unlike "DL", which just gets better and better until the final shot.

Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves came out the same time as an English Robin Hood movie with Uma Thurman. The second one apparently wasn't very good. Come to think of it, the Costner flick was no great shakes either.
