Film Noir suggestions

I´m currently trying to binge as much Film Noir as I can. Can anyone recommend any of their favourites from the genre?

Thanks have seen a bunch of them. Nightmare Alley is my favourite so far. Don´t care too much for Bogart´s noirs.

The Window (1949) In one article I read about this film, it was supposedly the inspiration for Hitchcock's Rear Window a few years later.

reply

Interesting. It's a movie I was not aware of.

Pushover (1954) features a 21 year old Kim Novak in her first starring role.

Panic in the Streets (1950) features Jack Palance in his film debut.

Highway Dragnet (1954) B Grade but compelling and a little different.
Inferno (1953)
Day of the Outlaw (1959) a Western but has a Film Noir feel to it.
Crossfire (1947)
Criss Cross (1949)
In a Lonely Place (1950)

If you wanted to try something newer The Last Seduction (1994) has all the hallmarks of a Film Noir too.

I didn´t know The Lady Vanishes was a Noir but agreed. Great movie. I enjoyed Gilda too. I didn´t care much for Detour though. Currently watching The Killers.

Just thinking about Night of the Hunter still gives me the shivers!🥶 I can’t listen to the hymn “Leaning on the Everlasting Arms” without images of this movie popping into my head! Brrr! The following is a rather lengthy article about the film with *spoilers*, but it explains how I felt when first viewing the film. Excuse me while I crawl under the bed! First a scene:
