Newfoundland

I know I've complained about the cold weather here this week, and we did get a dump of snow a couple of days ago, which led to me getting rear ended, I am so glad I'm not in Newfoundland right now.

No offense, but I would venture to say that all of us are glad we're not in Newfoundland right now.

I've experienced a similar storm once in my lifetime. 31 inches of snow from one storm, however our winds were not as bad as what Newfoundland experienced. And being in a major metro area, we had more resources available to help dig out afterwards. The power of nature...

I've seen a number of pictures from St. Johns and I can't imagine having to dig out all those cars, and well, everything! Where the heck are you going to put all that snow??

reply

they dump it in the harbor.

reply

They must have to start at the harbor then, and work their way into town??

reply

The harbor would be cleared first and the trucks back up and dump it in water. They have done that a few times here in Toronto - just dump it in the lake. We don't get the snow like they do down east.

reply

Around here the snow cannot be dumped in the river - too many contaminants in it.
