Not Counting The Beatles, Who Had The Best 3rd

lead singer ala George Harrison for The Beatles?

I'm sure one will pop up later on when I'm not thinking about this, but I'd go with Rick Wright from Pink Floyd.

Three Dog Night:

Chuck Negron
Cory Wells
Danny Hutton

Chuck is one of my favorite singers. Did you ever read his autobiography, "Three Dog Nightmare"?

I highly recommend it. Get it at your library - last time I looked for a USED copy it was selling for $120!

That's one I never got into. I'm also not a fan of their biggest hit - "Joy To The World", but I do love their first one, "One"... Many others, mostly Chuck's stuff, but I love "Out In The Country" so much - it's nice hearing all three sing that one. They had the most consecutive Top 40 hits ever, up until Hutton demanded the song he did (which sucked, I can't even remember it) to be the single, despite Corey saying they should go with Chuck's "I Would Be So Happy". Corey's voice is a bit to husky for me, but in the latter 70s, I liked his falsetto voice. Danny didn't seem to sing lead on many, but he's great in "Liar"

Fleetwood Mac:

Stevie Nicks
Christine McVie (I like her way better than Nicks)
Lindsey Buckingham

Stevie at age 18 had the voice of an angel. That didn't last... ;(

Is that why she stuffed it up her ass?

Gonna go with Richard Wright aswell, without him we wouldn't have the PF we got. Think of PF's sound and style, most of it can be attributed to him

Some early ones:

The Mammas & the Papas, John Phillips, Denny Doherty, Cass Elliot, and Michelle Phillips (4!)

Peter, Paul, & Mary

A bit later, Crosby, Stills, & Nash

Although he rarely sang, I've always thought John Entwistle from The Who had a decent voice.

When I first heard, "905", I thought it was Pete.. That song also contains my favorite Who lyrics.

He had some good songs on his first solo album, "Back on the Road", "Thinkin' It Over"

The Eagles

I wouldn't say they had the best 3rd, but Queen had Brian May and Rodger Taylor who were good singers. I suppose I'd rank May third in the band.

May did some incredible operatic vocals on Queens albums, and was no slouch live either. Check out the live at Montreal version of Somebody To Love.
