Indian food is delicious
Just ordered chicken tikka masala, garlic naan and a mango lassi DoorDash.

shareForgot to mention, paratha is so much better than naan. I’ve switched over.
shareI am not a fan of curry.
shareI don't mind some of the hotter stuff but generally it all seems to be brown and overloaded with spices. Not really my thing.
shareI ate in a couple of Indian restaurants in Melbourne many years ago and the food was so bad. Everything was far too hot and had the same nasty foul curry taste, that I have never gone back to one. And this from someone who cooks and enjoys the occasional curry at home.
Those were probably from "Western" Indian restaurants. I agree, they taste bad. Best to eat authentic.
shareI've heard that kind of thing mentioned a few times, "Western" or "Must have been a cheaper place". I'm not so sure, one place was quite expensive and the food tasted like detergent. In regards to authenticity I can't really comment but in the past I ate at a few Indian places and it was all quite ordinary and I find it hard to believe they were all "Western".
Definite lack of diversity in their cuisine.
Well the restaurants were staffed by Indians so unless they had made up a "special" menu to cater to what they thought would be the Western palate ( and failed ) I would guess it was genuine Indian cuisine.
One place I went to the staff were very rude as well and another place the guy taking the order couldn't understand English so I walked out. So it's a combination of a few things.
I also prefer to make my own food including curries rather than go out and pay for them. I've become a very confident cook which means I am more and more reluctant to take a chance out there.
Yes unless you go to McDonalds it's often quicker to cook something at home than go out to buy take-away food anyway. And it's usually healthier and tastes better.
It's certainly extremely tasty. But I always make sure to order the loperamide dessert for afters.
shareIndians are obsessed with mangos.
