Odd things you collect

For me it would be coffee mugs, bookmarks, and towels.

Hotel pens

The heads of my slain enemies.

reply

Yes!!

Fishing reels, guns, knives, old tools, anything to do with industry or agriculture ('Americana' I think they call it,) vinyl albums and comic books
Probably other stuff I can't think of just now

I recently acquired four small paintings that I would call 'folk art...'
They are primitive but charming (barns, silos in a snowy field, New England villages, that sort of subject matter)
I may buy more folk art if I happen across it

My lovely wife is very patient with me:)

Another vinyl collector here!

reply

I have a nice vinyl collection I would like to monetize (sell) w/o giving it away.

I also collect vinyls and comics but I don't count them as being odd. The vinyls are heavy and I'm looking forward to divesting myself of them soon.

reply

Hell, if you're in the Northeastern States I'd probably buy them....I don't mind a drive bobby

reply

Dude. That borders on hoarding.
Some spartan individuals would argue that it actually is. Hoarding.

reply

OMG, I'm a hoarder😱

reply

;-) I know, right?!
I think hoarding is like OCD or paranoia.
Everyone indulges in it about something to some extent. I have a collection of about three dozen small to medium pocketknives. It just kinda happened. I didn't make a conscious effort to gather them.

Good woman. You should keep her.

reply

I aim to:)

Labello lip balm. And hotel toiletries.

reply

do you steal the towels?

reply

Not anymore but I used to.

Proof that therapy is effective

Music memorabilia.
Vinyl, CDs.
Concert ticket stubs.
Comics.

reply

Does it bother you that they now sell albums again?

reply

No, I spend time in second hand shops, so the resurgence of new vinyl hasn’t affected me really.

reply

I do collect movie ticket stubs, which gets me an odd look at the register, because everybody just uses their phone these days.

reply

Uses their phones for what?...

reply

For a mobile movie ticket. Those don't have any stubs.

reply

Okay I get it. I'm not really tech savvy

reply

Me neither. I never pay for stuff with my phone.

reply

I use my kindle to pay the bills. That's as savvy as I can manage.

reply

Good for you!

reply

The mobile movie stub was a complete surprise. There's probly a bunch of other stuff I have no clue about. I found out about mobile coupons just a year or two ago.

Playing cards

Gamblers anonymous can help

reply

Hahaha good guess but I'm not much of a gambler. The root of my addiction is far geekier than that; I'm a huge fan of magic and mentalism and am an avid hobbyist. In addition to cards I collect magic/mentalism books (I have a particular love of old texts).

reply

I was an independent buyer for a wholesale textbook company for several years. I wound up with a bunch of interesting texts on odd and diverse subjects. My girlfriend thought I was damned weird.

reply

Spores, molds, and fungus.

You are Dr. Spengler, aren't you?!?

reply

Isn't it illegal to make your own penicillin?

reply

It probably should be
