We all heard lists of sequels that are better than the original movies, but what are examples of third movies being better than the second (or the first) movie?

Die Hard with a Vengeance (the third Die Hard film) was better than Die Hard 2.

I have conflicting thoughts on Die Hard with a Vengeance. I think it's a really solid movie, but I wish it wasn't a Die Hard.
