Superhero Movies Ruined Our Cinematography

I really love Marvel (even more than DC) but I hate how almost every modern Action/Fantasy/Sci-Fi movie tries to be like a typical Marvel installement. That's not even funny anymore

reply

Well they are going to remake them all with women replacing the men, not for woke culture or because they are feminists but because Hollywood is creatively bankrupt. They've already remade so many films that they are desperate for a new twist.

reply

I feel sorry for Hollywood. No creativity these days

reply

The Marvel movies have never been accused or being well-made films.

reply

I like Comic Book films, but as with any genre, there are good films and bad films.

reply

Fair enough!

reply

The complaint you have is with film makers trying to replicate what they know has achieved success, which to be fair they've always done, as opposed to the fact that Marvel movies exist. For example, I recall a time in the late 90s and early 00s where every upcoming film maker wanted to be Scorsese or someone who was doing well at the time. Marvel is just what's making the most money right now, so sadly everyone working or trying to work in the industry is attempting to emulate some of that. It's the fault of film makers and studios for pursuing likely economic prosperity over creativity almost every single time and rarely taking risks.

Besides, considering how many superhero films have been and are being made, the cinematography of superhero movies can be quite varied, so this is not exactly right.

That's right. I hope we will see more creativity in the future.

I was talking about non-superhero movies. Action/Sci-Fi/Fantasy movies trying to be like Superhero ones look miserably ridiculous. I love many DC/Marvel films and yes, they can be more diverse in the future but other genres should stop imitating them

reply

I get you and I generally agree, but I just think that because superhero films are varied, so it's not quite possible to say that non-sh film are copying all superhero films.

For example, Wonder Woman is quite different even from something like Batman Begins - but I'd say a lot more film makers are still imitating Batman Begins and its dark, gritty style and not at all copying WW. So yeah, I definitely want to see less movies imitating that, just as one example.

I'm not sure cinematography means what you think it means. You certainly don't support the accusation.
