Why is cola the most popular flavour soda?

In my area everyone drinks Coke and there are very few Pepsi drinkers and most of those moved here from up north.

I was recently reading about the history of Coke and found out that a large majority of the rest of the US prefers Pepsi. I was shocked. Lol

Marketing.

Because cola IS soda. The other flavors are just carbonated fruit juice. Know what I mean? What defines cola is that unique cola taste, so when people order it or buy it, that's what they seek the most--not any carbonated beverage but the cola-flavored one.

I think it's because Coke and Pepsi are the main products although Mountain Dew is my top favorite soda.

I don't drink soft drinks these days, but when I did I liked Root Beer.

I don't know. I think because its the most well-known worldwide and it has a lot of carbonation which a lot of people like. My favorite is Diet Dr. Pepper. I try to cut the sugar :P
