The coming death of just about every rock legend

This is depressing.

Behold the killing fields that lie before us: Bob Dylan (78 years old); Paul McCartney (77); Paul Simon (77) and Art Garfunkel (77); Carole King (77); Brian Wilson (77); Mick Jagger (76) and Keith Richards (75); Joni Mitchell (75); Jimmy Page (75) and Robert Plant (71); Ray Davies (75); Roger Daltrey (75) and Pete Townshend (74); Roger Waters (75) and David Gilmour (73); Rod Stewart (74); Eric Clapton (74); Debbie Harry (74); Neil Young (73); Van Morrison (73); Bryan Ferry (73); Elton John (72); Don Henley (72); James Taylor (71); Jackson Browne (70); Billy Joel (70); and Bruce Springsteen (69, but turning 70 next month).

Some of them might still live another 5 or 10 years, maybe longer.

he left out Linda Ronstadt 73

Many here are so healthy that hopefully there's a good ten years yet. I cannot believe what I see when I watch current footage of Mick Jagger! He's livelier than a teenager, lol!

But some are in a pretty bad way - Joni Mitchell is the biggest concern here I think.

A very strange and tasteless essay.

reply

I agree, Linker is a bummer
He seems like the sort that tells little kids there's no Santa when he's walking around the mall at Christmas time
The little twerps next piece should be 'You will all die someday'
What a tool:/

There's no Santa??

Sorry, I should have put a spoiler tag there, my bad:(

There is totally an Easter Bunny though, I just got off the phone with him and he's totally amped to visit us all next spring

I think it's natural to take notice of things like this, even though it's a dark thought. It's human though.

Some of us get almost as upset at a death of our favorite musician or actors as for a family member - when you're that type, you can't help wondering about when that axe will fall. I've done it myself.

reply

I agree it's natural to think about it on occasion, but to write and publish an essay like this, complete with a full DEATHWATCH list, is just weird.

Neil Diamond, 78, unfortunately, diagnosed with Parkinson's last year.

Neil is hurtin.

Ozzy Osbourne (70), Ian Gillan is (74), John Fogerty (74)

reply

Hard to believe Ozz is that much younger than Fogerty.

Take drugs, kids.

Randy Bachman 75
Burton Cummings 71

David Crosby 78

Sounds like he has been very happy (although maybe not with Graham Nash) and very busy this past decade or two. Some people say the music he's currently releasing is the best of his career. Just what I've heard.
