Anyone following the story in Canada about those two teen murder suspects involved w/ murdering 3 people in northern BC?

Pretty shocking case. They killed an Australian guy and her American girlfriend and another man. Apparently, they headed out east and reported to be in Manitoba by now. Funny thing is the suspects are from Port Alberni, BC which is not far from where I live. https://www.ctvnews.ca/canada/military-to-provide-aircraft-support-to-rcmp-search-for-b-c-homicide-suspects-1.4526228

reply

He has schizophrenia.

reply

that explains some of his actions

reply

Yikes! A real winner, eh?? 🙄

reply

I know. At least lay low for awhile.

One news reports says this highway is called The Highway of Tears. Over the years there have been an unusual number of people who disappeared or were found dead along this highway. I guess the highway's remoteness attracts some bad characters.

reply

The Highway of Tears is a section of highway 16 in British Columbia. It's called that because of the number of indigenous women who have either gone missing or been murdered in that area.

reply

Day 11 and Canadian police STILL can't find them.

reply

What are the temperatures up there at the moment? I know its summer there but is there any chance they can die of exposure or is it still too hot?

reply

They think they've found their bodies.

reply

Not really surprising considering recent developments. How long would two teenage boys survive in the wilderness without any supplies? Now hopefully there's some evidence that could definitely link them to the murders.

reply

That is good news.

reply

Not for me. If it was my kids that were murdered, I'd want them to suffer in jail.

reply

They took the easy way out.

reply

at least they can't kill anyone else.

reply

Any idea how they may have died? I'm guessing the insects got to them. Northern Manitoba is no easy terrain!

reply

yeah, did they off themselves?

reply

Apparently there are rumors they shot themselves.

reply

Did they even own guns? I think it's harder to own a gun in Canada than in USA.

reply

Their alleged victims were shot dead, so I guess so.

reply

we will find out tomorrow

Interesting.

I saw the father of that Schmegelsky kid in an interview today on "60 Minutes Australia". Something seems off about him.

I was in Port Alberni (where the suspects were from) last week and everybody is talking about these murders. It's shithole town with some serious shady people. Not really surprising these two came from there.

reply

They killed themselves with firearms. Just breaking on the news.

reply

sad, tragic.

reply

The two boys took the cowards way out though.

reply

So, now the news has come out that the boys made videos confirming that they killed all three of their victims. So senseless.

reply

And I believe they had plans to kill more. I didn't read the story - just saw a headline somewhere. Sick.

reply

The scary thing is they were from Port Alberni, BC which is not far from where I live! It's a small town and I've been there and everybody is talking about the murders. Sad that such negative attention being casted on a small town on Vancouver Island.

reply

I know what you mean. It's frustrating and sad that one (or two) bad guys give a particular town or city a bad reputation just because it's where they grew up. Crime and sickos are everywhere.
