The link isn't working, I've got a power outage for 36 hours now here and my wifi is pretty wonky🙄
But thanks sweetie😘
I'm sure there are better ways to represent Leslie West but this seems like a fun one.

Heard this in a convenience store yesterday. Huge ELP fan when I was in junior high, this song kinda hit the radar once in a while but never did have a recording of it.
Actually Greg Lake solo, but essentially the same thing, right?

I like that!
We should all be hippies but of course we're all too busy
Greg Lake has a beautiful voice. I first became aware of ELP in the mid 1970s, and have been a fan ever since. I saw them in 1993 in Minneapolis. The local press (those free weekly things aimed mostly at college students) downplayed it, poo-pooed it, and it was not a sell out, even though it was in a smallish theater. The so-called experts totally blew it, it was a great concert. Also memorable because their fog machine set off the fire alarm. It caused about a 20 minute delay. But it was a really great concert.
For reasons I'll never understand, ELP never took care to have really well-engineered, great sounding live recordings. Same with Asia.
Wish I could sound knowledgeable when it comes to engineering a live album, other than when I don't think they sound right.
Always felt their triple live record Welcome Back My Friends (arguably when they were at the height of their creativity and popularity), somehow missed the mark, muddy at the least and from what I recall, they didn't feature anything that would add something unique to their catalog. Yet I thought it was well received at least in some circles.
Somehow I don't think making a live record is as easy as it sounds.
But yes, Greg Lake has a very pleasant, warm and deep tone to his singing. Unadorned and not how most rock singers sell their performance. Who doesn't love Plant, Daltrey, Rodgers, Mariott, Rooseter, Gillan, so many great rock shouters.
But not many can deliver a strong vocal calmly and not rely on cheap theatrics (even if they are unique and fun).
Put another way, he had the type of singing voice I believe people across various genres would recognize as having unusual power and quality.
Forgot to mention I always thought Pictures At An Exhibition was a live recording that worked pretty well, but maybe the sound wasn't as impressive as how audacious it seemed back then.
shareMade a bunch of Grateful Dead purchases, mostly from the Road Trip Series. I also got a $1 coupon from Amazon so I bought an MP3 of Genesis 3 Sides Live, at half the price of a CD quality download (I always get CD quality or higher, here I made an exception).
