Here's what I would do. Let's say you are up to page 27.
The next time you visit the thread, instead of clicking "jump to latest" go to the bottom of the page and click on "2". This will take you to Page 2 of the thread.
In the address bar of your browser, change the "2" to "27" by using backspace or delete. (Or in this case simply add a "7" to the end.)

Sounds reasonable, the address bar part. I never have gone to the end expecting to go backwards, but I did try to start from the beginning and go forward. Tried to leave the tab open then close the PC down but one time it didn't save.
The format here doesn't let you easily advance to where you left off, but you may know a way to get past that.

I agree about not expecting to make sense of it, but for some reason I thought getting random suggestions about music might be interesting. A lot of what I did get through I am familiar with and not fond of, while others were popular overseas but not a style I favor, so I probably would burn out on it long before finishing the project. Was fun to see the Carl Palmer footage.
