Best Movie since 2010

There are so few I would like to see what others think. The only movie that really seemed original or interesting to me was It Follows..2014

reply

Prisoners (2013)

reply

I justs went through IMDBs highest rated movies since 2010, to make sure I hadn't forgotten some great movie. Wow that list is depressing. The Avengers really?

reply

Superhero movies are popular.

reply

I guess I was hoping we would have a movie in the last 10 years that made you think. I just watched Us, which I liked mainly because I had no idea where they were going, which is rare. The ending was good, not great, but at least they are trying to say something different. I started watching spiderman homecoming which was cute but I was just thinking I have seen this story so many times. There is nothing fresh left.

reply

I thought Get Out was better than Us.

reply

No question you are right. I really did like Get out. I don't think it was on the level of Memento but it was the best of the last few years.

reply

Now that I've been watching The Twilight Zone it's clear Peele totally ripped that off.

reply

He revamped the series and it hasn't been well received. He does fancy himself a modern day Rod Serling.

There have been quite a few good ones. In alphabetical order: (all of these are 10/10, in my opinion)

Avengers: Endgame (2019)
Avengers: Infinity War (2018)
Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance) (2014)
Boyhood (2014)
Isle of Dogs (2018)
The Hateful Eight (2015)
The Imitation Game (2014)
Into the Woods (2014)
It's Such a Beautiful Day (2012)
Lady Bird (2017)
The Lure (2015)
Mustang (2015)
Room (2015)
Short Term 12 (2013)
Silence (2016)
The Tree of Life (2011)

reply

I agree on The Imitation Game. I enjoyed it immensely.

reply

I have watched it multiple times. One of my favorite movies.

reply

I wouldn't mind a rewatch since summer seems to be all about reruns anyway.

reply

Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance) (2014)

reply

Funny I haven't seen Birdman but my husband just said today he couldn't get through it, boring, but he has no patience. I put that on the list to watch.

reply

based on your other comments here, I think you'll be engaged.

reply

If you haven't seen it , A Tale of two sisters...2003. It has subtitles but if you haven't seen go in and just enjoy.

reply

I've seen two of his others but not that one.

reply

This is the movie that got me ok with reading subtitles.

reply

Three-way tie between The FP (2011), Drive (2011), and La La Land (2016).

reply

The FP has a terrible rating on IMDB but the blurb is very interesting. I'm putting on the watch list.

reply

Ratings are meaningless when it comes to personal taste. I've never shown The FP to someone and not witnessed him or her cheer all the way throughout, especially during the final shot.

i'll stand by these choices.

reply

I’m not really a remake guy but I loved True Grit with Jeff Bridges if your counting 2010 as well.

Oh wait. A Deadly Adoption was made in 2015. 🤪

reply

yes true grit great but I really enjoy a movie where I dont know whats going to happen and that is so rare. I can usually see every line and turn coming a mile a way. Movie makers are not that smart. Thats why when I saw Get out and Us I was like , Ok where are you going with this. I am intrigued. Thats what I look for in a movie.

reply

Deadly Adoption...Will Ferrel?? If your going down that road I'm going to recommend Cabin by the Lake...Judd Nelson 2000 so cheesy so awesome.

reply

Lol I haven’t seen that one yet. I have to tell you Ferrel plays the role straight for the most part and there is a scene in the end where he’s in a small boat going down the river. It reminds me sooo much of a scene from the 1st I Spit on Your Grave. It’s weird.

reply

He HAS to be kidding!

reply

Yes I was. 😀

reply

Pfiou! The wait was long but at least now Im sure.

reply

Lmao 👍

reply

Inception

reply

Hey I never count an actor out. One of my favorite movies is Jeff Daniels in Chasing sleep. It was sort of like Johnny Depps Secret Window another great film.

reply

Humm.... I'll go with... The Raid 2 or The Revenant

reply

The Raid and its sequel are both superb films.

But Leo rolling around in filth and blowing snot into the camera? Sure, that deserves some gold! ;->
