RIP To Michael Jackson who died 10 years ago today. Where were you when you heard the news?

shareI don't recall, but then I'm not a MJ fan. I liked him when he was a cute kid with the Jackson 5, but never warmed to his solo career. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I don't know why. I just didn't.
shareWhat's the point of threads like this? Pretending to care so you get replies?
shareI was applying for a job at walmart, still never got a job at walmart
shareWhich is a good thing I guess. :/
shareyea , they were having a store meeting and one of the black employee's was like, did you hear michael jackson died?
i was just sitting in the corner on the computer applying in store on a computer
I have a story about Prince passing, but I'll save it for somewhere else.
And I am sorry about both of them dying quite young. They were both younger than me, and if you haven't caught on -- I'm still ticking !
I don't remember.
I do remember going to the movies that day. Seemed like everyone was talking about it.
Me I was on a Greyhound Bus when my brother called me to guess who died, I had a hard time guessing and sure enough it was Michael Jackson, I even told a few passengers on the bus about his death and they were all stunned and surprised about it, I also felt John Hughes' death didn't get much attention because people focused way too much on his death.
sharePretty sure I was at work.
shareI came home from law school seminar turned on the tv, and they were discussing Michael Jackson. I didn't know what yet, until the reporter's last line, "Michael Jackson, dead, 50 years old." It was shocking.
shareI was in my new apartment, had only just moved. My then-boyfriend and I had been watching a DVD, it was "Notting Hill." I'm not the biggest Julia Roberts fan but I think I hadn't seen it and my boyfriend owned the DVD -- yes, I know, a guy bought Notting Hill for his collection! Not the usual consumer but, lol!
So the movie ended and I switched my TV back to regular broadcast. The first thing we saw was a breaking news item with a ticker-tape along the bottom of the screen saying: "Michael Jackson dead" and other info, over and over. The picture was probably that shot of the emergency vehicles outside the property.
The two of us could NOT believe what we were seeing. We sat there with our jaws on the floor. Then my bf said something like "He's dead, Michael Jackson's dead." I still remember that I literally burst into tears. One of the first 45 singles (vinyl) I ever begged my mother to buy me or that I bought with my pocket money was a Jackson 5 hit, and I went on to buy a lot of their records when I was a kid, so it felt like a lot to take in that he was dead so young.
