Calling all Texans or people that know Texas well.

My wife & I are going to travel round Texas for a month in [EDIT] April (not August as originally planned) with our 5 year old daughter. Whilst I’ve already drawn up an itinerary, does anyone have any suggestions of where to go or any ‘must see’ places that I may have overlooked.

Currently aiming for: -
Dallas, Arlington, Fort Worth, Waco, Austin, New Braunfels, San Antonio, Corpus Christi, Padre Island, Port Arkansas, Galveston, Woodlands, Houston (phew!).

EDIT - Sorry guys, first I said August, then December, now it's April *shakes head*

Right then, looks like it's going to be: -
August - Singapore & OZ
December - TBA
April - Texas

It must be nice to have the funds to do all that traveling....a whole month in Texas plus the overseas. 😔Sigh...

BTW, where is OZ and TBA?

I am truly blessed to be able to do the things I do and travel as much as I do (it took years of hard work).
OZ is what we Brits call Australia
TBC is to be confirmed because I haven't decided where we're going in December yet.

Grapevine city with the Gaylord resort,and take the vintage train to the Fort Worth stockyards.Gruene,Texas with the river and the Gruene Hall dancehall.

Yes, the Guadalupe River at Gruene, and the dance hall/saloon! There was a nice little restaurant overlooking the river too, years ago, hope there still is.

I once went walking around in Gruene with a friend in the small hours of the morning, and we encountered a guy on a horse who said hello - was this some kind of mounted officer? Do they have those there? It only seemed odd to us later. It was about 2am when we saw him, and it was on the bridge on Gruene Road just crossing the river.

It is right behind Gruene Hall. Most of the bands I like play free on Sunday day so I eat there before I go to the Hall.

Tonkawa Falls in Crawford. It isn't a big waterfall but has the cleanest and clear water around.
