Last time you went on a road trip?

We drove to the West Coast of the U.S. from the Midwest last summer. (Annual trip for us.)

We do Virginia pretty often
Lots of historical sights, a gun range with the friends, nice restaurants...
Virginia is my road trip every year or two

reply

The end of last year we went north to Sudbury for New Years.

reply

Wow. That must really be so nice. I have never done a road trip in my life. :-(

reply

It is nice. You should take a road trip sometime.

reply

I must make a plan to do this perhaps I am too old (I am in my late 30s) for such a thing. I love my luxury during travels too.

There are so many things I want to do but also unable to due health and of course the old chestnut 'money'. :-(

reply

what do you think a "road trip" is exactly?

reply

Not counting the countless short road trips to visit my grandchildren who live four hours away, the last one I took was about ten years ago. My daughter and I drove from Minnesota to Massachusetts to take my mother's cremains to be buried in her family's plot. We rented a convertible and once the burial was over, we had a nice visit with my cousins in Maine and did a bit of sightseeing.

Too long. I almost went camping last week but ended up spending one night at a buddy's. I have no idea what my old sites look like these days, and I don't have an exploring partner at the moment. Finding a place to the stay on the Coast is easy, but it's not the same as waking up on a cool morning and making coffee outdoors, cracking a brewski as the day warms up, going on a nice decent hike, another brewski, get some sun, start a fire and cook something over it. Sitting in the dark around the fire, maybe music if it fits the mood. I'm glad I still have a ton of cassettes to choose from, the CD player burns through the batteries too fast. I'm not sure it even works properly anymore.

reply

Ah the cassette tape. I kept one in one of my 4x4 trucks because cd’s would skip off road. I still have a collection of mix tapes from the 80’s-90’s. :)

Portuguese Algarve over Easter this year.
Last US trip was 5 weeks in California last year - San Fran to LA.

Wow. Lucky you. That's the life isn't it.

reply

I truly appreciate how lucky I am, as I have been able to travel to so many places in my life.
