Movies you walked out on and why

While we often go to the movies to see good stuff, sometimes we're served something so bad that we have to leave to maintain our sanity and/or keep our cookies down. Like the title says, are there any movies you guys have seen in the theaters where you just had to leave before it was over? And why did you do so? What made you walk out and ask for your money back?

For me, the only movie I absolutely had to leave when in the theater was "Three Kings." I was 13, and with my family, but I could only take so much violence, gore, and shaky, nauseating camera movement before mom and I had to run to the bathroom. I think the scene that finally put us over the top was when one of the soldiers got shot in a lung, and you can actually SEE his lungs struggling to breathe, which was almost as disgusting as when George Clooney earlier tells what happens when you get shot in the stomach and you literally get to see the bile sac get busted in the imaginary scenario he was talking about. The good news is, mom and I managed to keep our cookies down, but we used our time in the ladies' room to get a breather. My dad and brother managed to stay for the last 10 minutes of the movie, and told us what happened.

My grandpa was always the adventurous type, in great contrast to my prudish, play-it-safe grandma when it came to films. He sometimes would go alone to movies grandma would never like, and there was one incident where he walked out. He was watching "The Fifth Element," and walked out of the theater when Ruby Rod showed up the first time. Guess he didn't like loud, annoying radio DJ's with outrageous fashion sense, hehe.

For the most part, I only go see a movie if I'm already pretty sure I'm going to like it; it's not worth the trip otherwise. As such, I rarely walk out of movies. Even on the occasions in which I turn out not to like a movie much, I generally stick with them to the end. I can only think of two movies I saw in the theater that I've walked out on.

One of them was Ice Age 2. Eh I just found it really unfunny and boring, and decided I'd rather do other things than watch it. I still really like the first Ice Age movie though.

The other was Black Swan. This was actually quite a good movie. But the thing is, I went to the movies that day specifically because I was feeling really depressed and wanted to watch something to take my mind off things. I'd heard Black Swan was good. Unfortunately it was also rather depressing, defeating the entire purpose of going. So I walked out. I've actually never finished the movie, I only saw it that one time, and I still would like to see the rest of it sometime. Just, preferably not on a day when my depression is acting up.

I don't blame you on Black Swan

Agree. Very pretentious movie for my taste.

I was very tempted to when watching Bad Neighbors 2.

I don’t really remember walking out of a movie because it was bad. But I will always walk out and get a refund if someone in the audience is making too much noise. I’m better off just watching it on TV if I have to listen people talking over it. I’ve for the most stopped going except for IMAX releases. The IMAX theater always has the volume high enough that I don’t get distracted by people making noise.
