an actor/actress that you think should have had a bigger career

Kevin Kline - I know he won an Oscar 30 years ago but his career fizzled.

reply

Michael Biehn

reply

Agreed.

reply

After Terminator I really thought he would be a big star. :(

reply

You'd think following that with Aliens and the Abyss he should have been. :(

reply

Same.

reply

Definitely.

reply

Linda Haynes

reply

He was big for a little while in the 80s and 90s.

I'd go with Jennifer Jason Leigh. Attractive and hugely talented. She's had consistent parts but never really moved up to being an A lister.

reply

difficult to work with

reply

I don't know about that. Could be true, but I read somewhere people expected her to be an oddball in real life and she self-reported being very domestic and normal.

reply

She reminds me of prostitutes I've known.

I get the impression that she has had a lot of rough times to get anywhere in the business.

reply

As with KKline, I think she's had a perfectly fine career. Not everyone gets to be Sigourney Weaver.

reply

it hasn't been bad, but the thread is about actors you thought could have been bigger.

reply

Fair enough. I guess I don't get wat someone is supposed to do to be bigger. Sigourney appeared in a lot of different roles and she wasn't always top billed. She's tall, which helped her be the hero in the Alien movies. Meryl Streep gets a ton of work. I guess she's a chameleon. Is Anne Hathaway an A lister? What about the ubiquitous Jen Aniston? Other than Julia Roberts (washed up?) I don't know who is an A lister and what it takes to be one.

I would add Cuba Gooding Jr. After Gladiator and a Few Good Men from 1992 and then Jerry Maguire in 1996 he seemed to be destined to be big and then after What Dreams May Come he just fizzled.

reply

Great example
Cuba was really good

reply

Especially after Wes Snipes got out of the way, but Cuba didn't seem to have that threatening side to him. I don't go out of my way to to view CGJ, or Wes for that matter.

reply

Snipes was OK in small doses (and was apparently a real difficult pain in the ass on set) but Cuba had a certain charisma that I liked a lot

reply

Julia Stiles
Neve Campbell
Brendan Fraser
Wes Bentley

reply

Julia Stiles's career got fucked over by Michael C. Hall.

reply

Colour me intrigued. What happened?

reply

She was rumoured to have been having an affair with Hall and was blamed for him and his wife splitting up and I think they had a falling out and that's why she left Dexter and wasn't so successful after that (supposedly because Hall badmouthed her). Has been doing mostly single episodes in shows since then.

reply

That's sad, especially given how many actors have affairs, but don't experience the same public outrage and fallout.

reply

What a shame. I really liked Julia Stiles.

reply

I'd take this with a grain of salt. Never heard about it, and, once, again, since we are talking about her, I'd say she's had a legit career.

reply

She is really attractive, she's got acting chops, it's weird that she isn't huge

Crappy agent maybe??

reply

But what is Huge? Someone mentioned Dunst and I think she's very well-known. These women just might be selective about their projects and don't jump into super hero or horror stuff

reply

Just type both their names into google and you will see.

reply

We're just primal animals, if you want something. Take It!

reply

Bentley must be a good nominee since I don't know who he is. I know Campbell but she may have achieved everything she was capable of. Certainly had the opportunity to. Fraser hit it very big with the Mummy so I don't think he's hurtin'.

reply

Wes Bentley is Ricky in American Beauty.

reply

Maureen Teefy
Ken Wahl

reply

Ken Wahl definitely

reply

Good man 👍

reply

He IS a good choice. Handsome guy, had his shot but never materialized. I think I saw The Wanderers a long time ago.

reply

I'd totally forgotten about Ken Wahl. Do we know what happened to him?

reply

Thanks for sharing that. I can respect his decisions.

On a slightly different note, I also respect the child actors that walk away and do something else.

reply

You're welcome, Yep Ken seems to prefer the quiet life.

reply

Now you're talkin.'
