Movies You Want To Re-Watch

What movies, and why.. Maybe it was youth, maybe you were tired on the first viewing, etc?

reply

Flight.

I've seen like 3/4 of it two times but i've never seen the ending.

reply

Next time how about start from about 3/4 of the movie?

reply

Yeah, but i saw it both times on tv, i could just look it up online of course.

reply

Good film.

reply

Agree. At least as much as i've seen.

I have a few I never tire of. There Will Be Blood, Gangs of New York, and Natural Born Killers are probably my go-tos. TWBB- just everything. The music, setting and best performance by DDL. Gangs, I just dig. The Butcher does it for me, and I just love the atmosphere of a historic New York. Natural Born Killers a little nostalgia and the message is everything. Also Batonga, Batonga, Batonga!

Side mention to Serpico and Bellflower.

reply

Nice taste in movies. There Will Be Blood, Natural Born Killers, and Gangs of New York are some of my personal favorites. Especially There Will Be Blood and NBK. Fantastic movies! And Bellflower is one of those lesser known films that somehow slipped under the radar. It's been years since I watched Bellflower, but it used to be one of my favorites. Maybe I'll give it another viewing.

Also watched The Little Hours yesterday. That one I plan to rewatch as soon as I light a blunt. Good stoney material.

there's a few things i like to revisit fairly regularly, say once every year or two, just because i think they're breezy & fun & will reliably entertain me. evil dead 1+2, beyond the valley of the dolls, stuff like that. and, even though it's nothing like those films, singin' in the rain kinda falls into that category for me, just because it's such a fun, joyous film.

funnily enough, on the opposite side of the spectrum, i love watching david lowery's a ghost story. i think i've seen it a good 6 times since it was released, and sometimes when i'm puttering around cleaning or just net browsing, i'll throw it on just to have it playing in the background. odd, because it's certainly not a light, casual movie, but i find it completely hypnotic & every time i watch it i get completely swept up in it.

as for things i want to revisit...hmm... i just watched upstream color again recently, and really enjoyed that a great deal, so i think i might give primer a go again. haven't seen it in several years i'm pretty sure.
i'll probably give infinity war a viewing or two before end-game comes out.
i want to watch 24 hour party people again soon.
i've been meaning to give florida project a re-watch. it was one of my favourite movies of 2016, but i haven't revisited it since seeing it in the theatre.

I used to date a girl who owns Singin' In The Rain and would watch it regularly. I admired her for that, she enjoyed older movies and musicals. I get a little wistful when I see White Christmas as I wish we could have shared this.

Do you mean "mental comfort food" movies? Because I have several :D

- Cinderella (2015)
- Beauty and the Beast (1991 Disney)
- Narnia (2005)
- the original Star Wars trilogy
- Young Frankenstein
- Blazing Saddles
- Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory
- Penelope
- Forbidden Planet
- Fantastic Voyage

reply

I love Forbidden Planet

Especially poignant given JMV's exit, I'd love to see Tribes with JMV, Darren McGavin and Earl Holliman.
Another personal favorite film is The Fountain, from Darren Aronofsky.

There are so many. I don't know why Sunshine Cleaning comes to mind. I don't get Turner Classic Movies at the moment, and I miss all the classics. I have a bunch of thing on VHS I haven't seen in years. Actually, it's hard for me to settle down and watch a whole movie alone. I'd prefer to have a date or a buddy over, but it just doesn't happen these days.
