For pure quality: Sound of Music
For what I liked the most: Godfather I & II, Patton, The Sting, The King's Speech
So many winners that should have lost to the competition. I stopped watching nor caring 15+ years ago.
My favorites to have won would be:
Platoon (1986)
No Country for Old Men (2007)
The Deer Hunter (1979)
Now what’s the best picture to have won in the critical sense is up for debate.
