Which is more important to you: Liberty or Wealth?

I am just curious.

I personally think liberty and freedom are more important than wealth. Wealth is still important, but you are able to create it yourself in a free nation. Whether or not you have liberty is dependent on where you live (i.e. The West has liberty. Places like Saudi Arabia do not.)

Liberty

if you have wealth, you have liberty.

reply

Not necessarily. Take for example people living in Saudi Arabia....

the men are free

reply

Nope. Say something bad about the Crown Prince or his cronies and you could have your tongue cut off.

reply

true dat. But I still want the money.

reply

If you´re wealthy enough, you can border jump between other countries on a tourist visa every 3-6 months and essentially live somewhere else. I´d take the money...

give me liberty or give me death!

Liberty. I'd rather be the poorest person living in a society where one can enjoy a lot of freedoms, than in one where you are rich, but every part of your life is controlled, and that wealth and privilege can be taken at a moment's notice.

Perfect reply 👍

Liberty most definitely. Wealth is not important, as long as you have a roof over your head and food in the cupboard that is all you really need .... and far too many people don't have them or freedom 🙁

reply

That's where I am - not much money, but food and shelter is about all I need. Freedom is everything.

I'll put it this way... "wealth" is much easier to define!

Ask people what they actually mean by "liberty" or "freedom", and they'll either be unable to coherently define either, or will give a definition that's the opposite of the next person they think they agree with.

reply

Liberty although I admit that money and material are very important to me
