The Lost Weekend (1945) It's been a long time since I saw this but I do remember it having a depressing quality about it.

I'm going to rewatch Runaway Train later today. Have you ever seen it ? It's one of my favorites of his and also kind of a depressing film.

It was excellent
Wouldn't mind seeing it again soon
Enjoy Amigo...I'm iced in and watching Mindhunter on Netflix (it is really good)

The Asphalt Jungle (1950) - this one where you find yourself rooting for the criminals. It doesn't end well.

i just watched sansho the bailiff, because there's nothing better than having your heart ripped out & stomped on first thing sunday morning.

it is a masterpiece, though.
