do you still receive gifts ?

My wife and don't buy gifts for each other anymore - I have a closet full of ties. So we usually buy something for the house - this year we bought some things for the living room which needed updating. So we got a new console for the TV, a new coffee table and a new area rug. The living room looks sort of new. The delivery guys came through with a Christmas Eve delivery - just in the nick of time.

Merry Christmas to all.

I don't exchange with my wife anymore either...we usually make a large purchase to improve the house instead
Love letters and 'together' time is what we do

reply

What did you buy this year ?

reply

Well, we had a water/well issue and leased a new Ford...nothing very sexy or romantic I'm afraid lol

reply

I hear ya. Next year's gifts will probably be a new washer and dryer unless they break before then.

reply

Mrs Neighbor gave me a ChillPal for Christmas. We did gifts before they left town. She worries about me on those hot summer days.

We'll see if it works better than the damp dish towel I usually put around my neck. Or maybe she doesn't like my dish towels?? πŸ˜‰

reply

We don't do Christmas gifts, but in our family we still give each other gifts on December 5th. Cheap and useful ones for the most part, though.

reply

How many Korean pop CDs did you get ??πŸ™‚πŸ™‚πŸ™‚πŸ™‚

reply

You think anyone in my family would waste money on that??? There are ways to get them for free.🀐

reply

I would have bought you one. πŸ˜‰πŸ˜‰πŸ˜‰

reply

Wait? So you haven't actually bought me one?! What are you giving me for Christmas instead???

reply

The Room (2003) Limited Edition DVD - same as the original but the sex scenes are longer. πŸ˜‰πŸ˜‰πŸ˜‰

reply

Oh, goody! Even more of Tommy Wiseau's wrinkly, old butt!😍

reply

Do you observe Hanukkah at your house (or something)?

reply

No. That's several days, isn't it? And not a fixed date either?

reply

Fair point. I always thought Hanukkah usually takes place a few weeks before (or around) Christmas. I didn't realized how it can also extend past Christmas during certain years as well. I believe Hanukkah gifts can be given at any time within those days? Then again, I wouldn't know much about that one myself.. So what's the special occasion about December 5th for you guys out of curiosity?

reply

It's Saint Nicholas Eve over here in Europe.

reply

Gifts for the grandkids only these days. And they get harder to buy for. I bought them books this year. Here's hoping they're ones they don't already own since all of them are readers and have a zillion books already.

I like your idea of a refresh for your living room.

(I think it's a tie room, not a closet, because hey, you're an accountant!) πŸ˜‰

MerryπŸŽ„Christmas everyone!

reply

We just buy for our son. We got him this really warm jacket and the funny thing is we are having a very mild winter. My house is not big enough to have a tie room. Although I do have over 50 ties.

reply

Which jacket did you end up getting?

reply

When I'm hanging with a GF we would buy stuff for each other. I might buy a female friend some girly socks this year, even though they will be late. We don't get together that often so I'm not trying to make any great impression, but she's wonderful when we do see each other.
My roommies gave me a $20 gift cert for a local CD store last year, but I haven't bought anything yet. So hard to decide ! Gonna drop off some LPs and get some more credit and finally pull the trigger, but I have such a hard time thinking of a few things I really want.
But otherwise, not really. Gonna send a buddy a fun box with a bottle of regional Pinot Noir, a local beer, a Habitat For Humanity T-shirt, an Austin City Limits coffee table book and some jazz CDRs I burned. That was more a 60th b-day thing, but I'm nearly a year late. Dates don't matter, it's the thought.

reply

I personally dont want actual gifts. I prefer several Christmas cards with brand new crisp 50 or 100 dollar bills inside the card.

reply

I still get gifts every now and then, and give some gifts to others.

Merry Christmas!!! πŸŽ…πŸŽ„πŸŽπŸ””πŸ€Ά

reply

I exchanged gifts with my immediate family today. I got a Tim Horton's gift card, a Subway gift card, toothpaste, toothbrush, body wash, gloves, pillowcases, and lots of chocolate.

reply

Yes. I donated to The Human Fund in my families name.

reply

I sure you were very generous Mr Costanza. πŸ™‚πŸ™‚πŸ™‚πŸ™‚

Money well spentπŸ˜†
