Junk food!

Usually I eat pretty well. Organic when I can, lots of fresh foods, not much in the way of processed. But sometimes ... sometimes!

Recently I bought two slices of pizza. Convenience store pizza no less! 😬 And yes, it was delicious πŸ˜„

In-n'-Out burgers are usually the only junk food I eat, and not that often. I do like french fries, but only if they're really good fries, otherwise, pass. In-n'-Out is high quality and very fresh so I consider it only semi-junk food.

I think pizza has to be my weakness in the junk food category.

How's about you?

reply

I don't eat junk food...That is why I am healthy.

reply

everybody has some junk food now and then.

reply

I don’t eat candies eithers

chick fil a is the goat

reply

I'm going to go right ahead and assume being the goat is a good thing.

No Chick Fil A around here. Never tried their food.

reply

Greatest Of All Time.

reply

I just Googled the menu. Luckily for me it's battered and deep fried stuff, which I don't like!

reply

Yeah, we don't have Chik Fil A around here either. I don't think I'd go there, but I see commercials for them usually during college football. They are kind of funny, cows disguised in some silly way and holding signs that say EAT MOR CHIKIN.

Catbookss, are you saying that all fast food is junk food? I don’t think that pizza, your Kryptonite, is necessarily unhealthy. To me, junk food is food that is bad for you, like most frozen dinners, many canned soups, almost all candy. If you can feel your teeth melting while you eat it, it’s junk food. Not for nothing, in the category of fried chips, I’ve found sweet potato fries to be both tasty, and very good for me!

Regarding you eating a whole pizza by yourself, two thoughts: (1) Everyone knows that leftover pizza is better than fresh! (2) Use a smaller amount of pizza dough and make a Calzone, the popover version of pizza. I love Calzones. I can eat them with my hands, but also with a knife and fork. There is something that’s just very sissy about eating pizza with dining utensils, but not with a Calzone, and I use fewer napkins that way. Calzone. Yum.

reply

Oh well yeah, R_K, in this case I was equating fast food and junk food. Except for the *ahem* pizza kryptonite, I don't eat much in the way of processed food.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not above having leftover pizza for breakfast, but give me fresh, melty-cheese pizza over cold (or reheated) annny day! But if I buy pizza dough, that means I'll be making and eating more pizza! This is not good. I try to keep my starch consumption down as much as I can. Not that your calzone pizzas don't sound delicious πŸ˜‹

reply

Doner Kebabs and Chicken Pakoras.

reply

I had to Google. The doner kebabs do look good!

reply

Very unhealthy but they taste great with loads of chilli sauce.

You haven't really lived until you've tried the Sushi at 7/11. The Fugu is to die for.

reply

πŸ˜‚ I'll keep that in mind. Well, probably not, but thanks for the thought.

reply

Sushi from a convenience store? No.

reply

I never think of Pizza as junk food! It's quite a balanced meal and if done well healthy too.
Good old fish and chips is my favourite with salt and vinegar hmmmm
For sweet stuff Krispy Kreme glazed ring doughnuts.

P.S nice to see a tit free thread!

reply

It's all the dough, and all the melty cheese (yum). Not as bad if you use whole grain flour, but I can't stand that any more than I can whole grain pasta or brown rice!

A tit-free thread on GD, whodda thought it could happen?

As with many things, it's a matter of perspective. While often I am not proud of my food choices and I could improve greatly, at the same time, I try not to eat the same crap day-after-day, like drinking soda pop. I avoid French Fries, and I prefer Grilled Chicken to Breaded, but a good ol' Cheeseburger suits me just fine. For personal reasons I boycotted Mickey Ds for 20 years, something I'm proud of. But I'll pop into a Taco Hell or an Arby's when I feel like it. I'm not over-weight (much), and as I said, I try to keep variety in my diet.
I also figure if there are regions of the World where ANY Nutrition, ANY Food, would be an improvement, I'm not going to fret over some preservatives and extra Fats. I just try not to over-eat.
And I love pizza, but I only eat some about once a week, and my roommates will buy that fancy stuff from Papa Murphy's. I have no problem with some thick and gooey Little Caesar's pepperoni pizza, but once again, I don't buy it that often.

reply

I just had something at KFC called a "Chizza". Yes, it's a pizza made of chicken.

reply

A ... chizza? Is the whole thing made of chicken, including the crust? Is it deep fried?? This doesn't sound good to me, no matter what your answers are, but I've got to ask, how was it?

reply

It's a Zinger fillet topped with tomato sauce, cheese and pepperoni. I like their chicken, so it was quite tasty.
