Do you collect anything?

I have 9 Citizen watches.

I collected two sets of Batman Trading Cards as a child.

What have you collected?

reply

Comic Books (i prefer Marvel)

Fossils...i have a bunch

Guns (rifles and shotguns only...no pistol license-NY is a pain in the ass)

Antiques (Farm/tool/'Americana' stuff mostly)

Vinyl Records (any genre really)

Knives and hatchets

Fishing gear...old or new i want it

Tools (i keep buying them...cant stop)

Archery tackle (im an awful archer...i just love the bow stuff and i probably own too much by now)

Im thinking of getting into American signs soon...Coke, old Neon stuff, Carnival posters, anything a bit dusty and with good graphic art really...

reply

I like Neon signs, and Art Deco furniture.

reply

Neon stuff is expensive but i really want one in the garage...its just such a great look (diner, liquor store, gas station...anything authentic and aged really)
Do you have any?

Art Deco style is very cool and i love the 'Mod' 60s stuff too
I was trying to do my music room Mod/60s style...got the couch and chairs, a geometric patterned rug but cannot find the right end tables
I was thinking chrome with glass tops but they are a fortune on line...

reply

Is Art Deco worth anything? I have some bedroom furniture in storage right now.

reply

Craigslist is your spot
Art Deco is hot right now
Lovely furniture and decor

Just invite a buddy over for the sale...some Craigslist meet-ups have gone very badly...VERY badly:(
Not joking

reply

Thanks for the tip. I've been meaning to post them on craigslist, but haven't gotten around to it.

I've done a few transactions on craigslist. Safety protocols are a must when dealing with strangers.

reply

Craigslist is quite useful....but please be careful Padeen
The worst time I got ripped off on Craigslist was by a cute young Asian girl selling baby rabbits across the hudson River in Hyde Park...i'm a big bunny rabbit fan, they are just the cutest:)
She assured me that both were females as i
did NOT want babies...
So i learned two things here...baby bunnies are ridiculously adorable and EVERYBODY on Craigslist is a big lying jerk
I donated hundreds of dollars to adopt out the baby bunnies
Dumb move on my part but it worked out i guess

reply

I've done dozens of transactions on craigslist selling baseball tickets and only had one bad experience. Met a guy at a Barnes and Noble and everything seemed to go fine, so I go in to browse books. He comes storming in claiming he over payed me. I assure him he didn't and he leaves. Next he's waiting for me outside and starts ranting about how he needs the money for the game hes taking a family member too. I stand my ground, raise my voice and tell him how I don't appreciate the allegations since I agreed to drive a good distance too meet him. To this day I'm not sure if he was trying to screw me or if he misplaced his money. I also always carry pepper spray and thankfully never had to use it.

reply

Glad to hear it didnt get out of hand with the guy

reply

I have about 50 baseball hats which I have collected over the years.

reply

How good you are with the B.O.W?

reply

B O W?
I dont know what that means... Im pretty lousy with my bows tbh
Like, 'not hit the barn' lousy

reply

B.O.W. = Bio-Organic Weapon, a reference to Resident Evil.

reply

Of course lol...
I should have known!

reply

Back to regular bows, I do like archery. I'm right handed but can only shoot left handed.

reply

I love archery...but i am painfully bad at it
My sister routinely whooped my ass growing up and my kids are both better than me:/

Weird about the right/left thing...i have never heard of that before

reply

Thats the coolest combo ever man!!!

I have one Citizen, One Bulova and One Seiko

Over 1400 movies

Hockey cards fom my youth

reply

That’s your own video store. Do you have shelves? Mine are in a box.

reply

All on shelves and I have about 150 movies I bought but never watched. So it IS like a private video store.

reply

1400 is impressive. My brother has about 400-500.

reply

When I was on paternal leave ( 5months) I bought over 200 movies just then... Been buying for the last 15 years. Tried to sell a lot but so hard to get a serious offer.

reply

I thought i had a lot with roughly 300 movies and tv shows in my collection.I'm starting to run out of shelf space on mine.

reply

When I was a kid I collected Pokemon cards, and I still have my old collection in a binder in a closet somewhere lol. But I haven't collected anything since. I don't really have the room or the money to be collecting things that don't have some purpose.

reply

Beach glass
Sea shells
CDs
DVDs

reply

Red Sox ticket stubs from every game I've gone too for the last 31 years. The price increase is amazing.

I also have a small collection of old rifles. The oldest being from 1891 and it still shoots perfectly!

And a good amount of silver coins I buy each month as a long term investment. A few gold ones too.

reply

Traditional wet shaving gear. Both vintage and new double edged razors, the oldest being a Gillette Old Type open comb from the 1920's. Then razors from every decade up to the 1970's. New shaving brushes mostly of boar, some badger and a horse hair and a few synthetics. Plus a bunch of razor blades, shaving soaps and creams so I can use them. I must have about seventy or so razors by now.

reply

That’s pretty interesting. Do you collect cut throats as well?

reply

I am surrounded by them...

reply

My grandmother sent him a letter and we got an autographed photo. This was back in the early 1970s. It actually took me years to really appreciate it.

reply

So cool. I love The Duke.

reply

IVE got a Thor ragnorok póster signed by Chris Hemsworth, and expendables signed by Stallone and Dolf. All done in person at premieres.
