Movie series where the first one was the worst one.

Usually in a series of movies, the sequels tend to get worse compared to the original but there are a few exceptions where I would say that the original is not as good as the sequels.

Three examples off the top of my head are the first Mad Max, the first Evil Dead, and A Fistful of Dollars, not being as good as the the sequels.

Does the first three X-men movies count as a trilogy, and the rest that follow after, are spin offs, since they have different stories? If so, I would say that the first X-men is not as good as the two sequels either, which compliment the first more.

What do you think?

I thnk some of the later Harry Potters were better than the first (Azkaban, Goblet) but the first one was better than some of the others (Phoenix, DH I) too.

The trilogy of Wolverine movies is a great example of this. Not only was each successive movie better than the last, but they managed to pull this off with each sequel having a smaller budget than the one before.

I heard the first Ouija movie was bad, but I liked the second one.
