Tv show/Movie remakes that were better than the original....

So many people always seem to put their noses in the air in regards to reboots. But many are actually better than their counterparts. Two I can think if would be...

Buffy the Vampire Slayer. A Tv series reboot of the Film. Loads better than the film.
And one that really Shocked me, was Mad Max Fury Road. An awesome film and at least as good as The Road Warrior. (My favorite film from the original Trilogy) Sadly a money dispute has put the future of further films in the dump.

There are many more. Please add yours.

Mash.
I wouldn't necessarily say that the TV show was better than the movie, but it did become a huge hit and lasted a long time.

That's not a fair comparison... you are comparing a modern series to a series from three generations ago. (BTW, it came out in the mid-60s...)

I grew up on the original and loved it for what it was at the time.

I also enjoy the new one, but it has the benefit of modern special effects and more sophisticated story telling.

A more valid comparison might be the current series with the late-90s movie version. I actually liked that one too, but I'm in the minority I know.

i wouldnt say better than the orig but the 2013 remake of Evil Dead was an amazing horror show
Unlike the old Raimi ones it had no humor and went full bore terror the whole way through...the chainsaw part at the end was something to behold

Battlestar Galactica

I much prefer the 1990 remake of Night of the Living Dead over the original. The first half of the original bored me but I enjoyed the remake from beginning to end.

Thats a great one
Patricia Tallman was a gorgeous/badass heroine and the rest of the cast was perfecto!
Bill Moseley, Tony Todd, Tom Towles...
Directed by SFX master Tom Savini

Id still take the original but the '90 remake was pretty awesome

Another fan! ;) I like how Patricia Tallman's Barbara didn't just sit down somewhere and lose her mind. It would be completely understandable if she did but the woman realized she was in a kill or be killed situation and she'd be damned if she gave in and gave up. She was still scared but determined to survive.

Tallman was hot and took no crap!
Great 'Final Girl' right there!

Another one i just remembered. 3:10 to Yuma. The remake with Russel Crowe was light years better than Glen Ford's version.
