When Am I Going To Learn?😡

To learn I’m not as spry and limber as I once was! Through the years I’ve been the one to assemble things such as those blasted heavy pressboard pieces of furniture. A microwave cart, entertainment center, a huge six door cabinet (swore like a sailor! but no Gd’s or f bombs).

I installed our Directv. This was close to 20 yrs ago when rcvrs were purchased. I cut the cables and attached the connectors. I researched the fact I could rcv both analog (cable co.) and digital (satellite) signals through the same cable (RG 59) running throughout our house. I was aware digital signals should be fed to RG 6 cable, but it could be done using the house cable. The signal loss was minor. There were complicated parts and tools I had to purchase in order to achieve my endeavor. With some tweaking...voila!

I inform y’all of this due to what occurred today. I purchased a rolling eating table/tray for my husband who is getting weaker by the day. He eats in the living room on a lap tray. He usually fixes his tray and totes it into the living room. I noticed it was getting more difficult for him to lift & carry the tray so I take it to him. What if I’m away? Solution? The damn thing I was finally able to assemble today. I write *finally* because during assembly I missteped and tripped over the table/tray’s metal cross brace. The tabletop wasn’t attached yet. One foot caught it, but since the thing didn’t move, my other foot caught it also. I went down on both knees while my feet were locked into the metal brace! I was doing a header a few inches from the fireplace hearth edge (brick) Arms & hands were flailing, but all I could think about were my glasses getting broke, so I lowered my head and hit the floor with my forehead & elbows instead of my face!

I came so close to hitting that sharp edge. I thanked God I didn’t. After a bit, sore as I was I rolled over on all fours and completed my task. Now I wish I was one of the “two birds in the bush”! Oh, Happy, Happy Day! I think it’s time for some of my bread pudding with Kentucky Bourbon sauce, but forget the pudding...☺️😉🤪

reply

Hmmm, that pudding sounds intriguing.

reply

Db, you never told me if you've ever had Mezzo Mix/Spezi/Schwip Schwap!

By the way, I watched that Marisa Tomei scene on Youtube. I totally see the resemblance!😆

reply

Now wasn't that a great comedic scene ? Couldn't you just completely relate ? And then there's every time I see a rabbit in my yard, which during this time of year is often.

I'll have to get back to you on the other stuff.

reply

Like I said, I really need to see that movie again!

Db, you know how jealous I am of your yard full of cute, fluffy bunnies!🐰🐰🐰🐰🐰

reply

❤️️ You may have all of the bunnies in our yard! They eat at the plants and some of my flowers. May I ship them to you?
They don't exactly look like the cute little things you want. They are grey and have long back legs that make them look like a jacked up car!
You may have them. Just don't bring them along on the Love Boat. I have already ordered the fluffy cuddly ones for you. The things that jump around my yard are just plain weird!

reply

You have no soul, Margo!😭

I'll gladly open up my heart and my garden to those poor, little rejects!❤🥕

reply

❤️️ But I DO have a heart! See????
Soul? I think I may have traded that in for a nice garden. I send these Jackles to you!
Just remember that I warned you. They are not that cute and they are not fluffy. They are definitely not easy on the eye. I'd bet anything that they are inbred. You may have them all if it saves my flowers!

reply

Those little creatures also need love, Margo! And I've got plenty to give!

Hey Ruby Red 👄

We had 5 acres in Florida and at the back of our property was a wetland. We had so many wild animals, deer, turkey, quail, squirrels and of course WABBITS! We would buy big bags of 🦌 🌽 to put out on an old trailer. My kitchen window overlooked that area so I was able to see them and enjoy! One time we had seven deer including does & fawns. Turkeys would join them to dine on the corn. I counted 25 at the “dinner table”.

We purchased peanuts in the shell for the squirrels. All we had to do was shake the bag and they would scamper to us. They had different personalities so I named each one...one was named Hammy. He was the bravest and the greediest coming right up to our feet to get his peanuts. The 🐇 lived under our sheds and I learned they liked to eat bread. I could go out with an old loaf of bread, tear it into pieces to toss to them. These were wild sweet creatures who weren’t fearful of us. Of course the greedy squirrels would want a share of the bread, also. All I have now are memories of my wild sweet creatures.

reply

Great story, ksp! I love squirrels as well, even the ones in Disneyworld that try to steal your food!🍔🐿

reply

❤️️I can't believe I said all of that! I really do love animals. I just wish that they would eat my grass instead of my flowers!

reply

I'm glad to hear that. For a moment I thought you had been bodysnatched by Croft!

reply

❤️️ Well, just don't let my friends at the humane society know that I have been bad mouthing these WABBITS. They wouldn't let me get within a mile of the shelter.

reply

I thought of you awhile back when I came upon an unexpected scene just right outside my bedroom window. There was an adult cottontail, stretched out on the cool concrete sidewalk in the shade. It was amusing because he appeared so contented and almost smiling. I stood there for a couple of minutes, smiling myself and thinking you would probably get a real kick out of that image.

reply

Ah, so sweet that you thought of me!😁

I would've loved to see that. I remember being in the park once and seeing a little bunny family coming out of the bushes. I was almost squealing. Too cute for words!😍

reply

It's just become a natural mental connection for me whenever I see one because you've made your love for the critters so apparent.

reply

Dang, I didn't know it was THAT obvious!☺

reply

Off the top of my head, I do remember spaetzle noodles which are a staple in Germany. I'll make more specific searches on the items you mentioned.

reply

No no, I'm talking about Spezi which is the same as Mezzo Mix and Schwip Schwap. It's a soft drink basically consisting of cola and orange soda. Especially Mezzo Mix is SO good.

Spätzle is also good. Sometimes the Lidl over here has it.

reply

No, those don't sound familiar then. I do remember often drinking Sprudle, a refreshing mineral water like Perrier.

reply

Is that a brand name? Never heard of that one, to be honest.

But Mezzo Mix is delicious!

reply

Believe me when I say it’s not the pudding...it’s the damn good sauce!

reply

Oh, I do. I used to live in that part of the country, in a town on the border between Tennessee & Kentucky.

reply

Only if it's cooked OR shaky puddin'.

reply

Sorry to hear about your husband and glad to hear you didn't break any bones.

reply

Thank you for your concern. As the day or evening wears on I’m feeling the jolt more. 🤕

reply

Sorry to hear of your misfortune. I fear the next day or two you will feel it even more. I have experienced this.

reply

I’m feeling it in my back now. You are correct about feeling it worse the next two days. My husband feels bad because all he could do was watch! He managed to get to his feet, but I had already “landed”. It’s a scary thing not being able to control your body. I would have been OK if I had been able to right myself, but the other foot got caught also. It was if someone was holding both feet down then pushing me forward.

I literally thanked the good Lord that I didn’t hit the brick edge of the hearth. I’m not permitted to go down and stay down as my husband is becoming weaker everyday with skin cancer all over his body. The whole top of his head is eaten down to the scull!

Thanks for your concern. I need all of the good wishes my cyber pals are sending me.

reply

I'm so sorry to hear about your husband's battle.

The older I get, the more I realize how vulnerable I'm becoming. A few years ago, I fell and broke my arm while walking my dogs. That's when I first understood the feeling of no longer being in control. I sat there, in the street, trying to figure out how to get on my feet. It was awful.

Best wishes. Really! ❤️️

reply

I think our pride takes over when we fall. We look around hoping no one has seen us in our predicament. As we age we don’t have the ability to jump up and be on our way. As for you trying to figure out how to get on your feet, the only way for most of us is to roll over on all fours and grab on to something. But, you had broken your arm so you wouldn’t have been able to get on your feet. How did you manage?

Even though I have grab bars around my tubs, I still have to get on all fours before using the bars. When this latest mishap occurred, after I got myself untangled I just sat there. My husband extended his hand, but that’s a no go nowadays. I would just pull him down with his cane probably killing one of us. LOL! ;-) I have to find some humor. 😉 I responded “Give me a minute and I shall rise again!” I did just that by rolling over on all fours and continued with my task at hand.

reply

I installed a grab bar to help me out of the shower. You're correct that I couldn't just get up following my fall. Afterwords, when I got home I realized I couldn't even get into the house because the key was in the 'wrong' pocket. I had to wait for my youngest son to get home from work. Getting older sucks. Things that used to work, all of sudden they don't!!

reply

It sure ain’t what it’s cracked up to be! I recall my dear departed mom saying “You work hard all your life looking forward to retirement. Then what happens? You spend all your time going from one doctor to another. Add to that there’s always a script to pick up at the pharmacy!”

reply

Respect and best wishes to Mr K
Im very sorry to hear this
This sort of sharing hurts and i wish you both the very best
Thank you for sharing with us all here

Having said that, please be careful in the future...isnt there a nice neighborhood kid that can swing by for a few bucks a week to do these sort of tasks?
Im very glad (believe me!) that you didnt seriously hurt yourself
You are important to lots of people i would bet, never mind us silly goofballs on MC

Much ❤️ K!
Get to drinking now...i will join in presently

PS: keep being you
You are awesome lady🍻

reply

Here’s a toast 🥂 to you for caring. Thanks much! Mrs. Shoggie had better be careful...someone just might abscond with you. Sad to say, we are on our own. I do let Mr. Neighbor in back know when I’m leaving to drive to Florida. I ask him to please keep an “eye” out for my Mr’s 🚗. If it hasn’t moved in two days please check on him. My Mr. is not able to travel any longer.

reply

🍻Im hardly worth the effort but i mean well and quite admire you K

Thank God for good neighbors!
Sounds like a nice person

reply

❤️️
So good to know that you are alright. You are, aren't you?
Take it easy the rest of the night. No more assembly other than mixing a drink or two???
My best to the Mr. He certainly has a treasure.... that would be you!
Remind him! You have to keep on reminding them! 😉

reply

And a toast 🥂to you also. Thanks for caring. We are just cyber pals, but we do (if people are honest) get a feel of our cyber pals’ persona. We have to stay anonymous, but we don’t have to play charades. What you see from me is what you would get if we personally knew one another....along with the red Solo cup! I have the cutest emoji for the red Solo cup, but I don’t know 🤷‍♀️ how to add it next to my screen ID. BTW, is there a way to make a revision to our ID?

reply

❤️️I think we understand each other. You are definitely my cyber pal!
Have you tried bookmarking your emojis? The red solo cup one? I have them bookmarked so that every time I want an emogi, I click onto that and I can copy and paste.
All of that sounds strange to me too, but if you can make any sense of it, you are smarter than me!
I have to keep remembering to add my little heart. Sometimes I forget, and I have to come back and edit.

reply

Damn! Sorry to hear about that. Glad you didn't break any bones, and I hope you heal quickly.

😎

reply

Thank you MMC. Here’s to you!🍻 The knees are starting to ache along with the back. As someone once said, “I hurt more over my body than anywhere else!” 🤕

reply

You're welcome. As Baz Luhrmann said in his famous "Sunscreen" Commencement Address:

"Be kind to your knees. You'll miss them when they're gone."

😎

reply

And as Jack Nicholson, as Edward, said in “The Bucket List” “Never trust a fart!”

reply

Is that where my doctor got that line? Hmm. He also said "Never pass up an opportunity to pee."

😎

reply

More than likely your doc got the line from the movie. Here is the famous (or infamous) line from “The Bucket List”:

“Three things to remember when you get older: Never pass up a bathroom, never waste a hard-on, and never trust a fart.”

reply

He said ALL THREE of those! Now I know where he got them. Another mystery of life solved. Thanks.

😎

reply

Come on girl, you need to be careful.
What we would do without you!

I'm glad you're ok.
You'll be sore for a few days but at least nothing serious.
At least you saved your glasses and you can still see!

reply

Thank you Deputy Dewey Boy! :-) I’m sending you some of my Kentucky Bourbon sauce...if I can stay out of it!

Damn straight I was going to save the specs! $700.00 designer titanium frames! Ain’t that somethin’ worrying about my glasses instead of the noggin’?

Now I know what knee burns are...😏

reply

We both know there won't be any sauce left!

$700? Those are worth more than my car and all the clothes I own.
No wonder you saved them instead of splitting your melon.

Yes ksp, I'm sure NOW is the time you know what knee burns are. **eyeroll**

reply

Damn knee burns do hurt don’t they? All I can say is “Mr. K better not say ‘I told you so’!

BTW, I just informed Dazed someone told me the hoe has been spotted at some honky-tonk.

reply

Thank goodness you're all right and didn't hit that edge! So sorry to hear about your husband, Ksp.

reply

Much thanks! I appreciate your thoughtfulness and here is a toast to you🍾🥂

reply

🍻 To you and your hubs!
