Right now America is going through a lot of turbulence, but we will survive. It's a test of willingness to conform or resist. And if you live here you'll know what I mean. If you don't live here just watch/listen to the news.

reply

Are you wealthy? The news is own by large corporations. They told us Iraq had weapons of mass destruction. Do you believe them still?

reply

Bush told us about the WMD. It's up to readers to make a judgement call. I scan the newspapers for headlines and local news, but mainly I get it for the comics and crossword puzzles.

reply

I don't think we will survive. We never have been surviving, we have had great individuals despite our failings, and they have given us great dreams, but the ruling class is extremely powerful and intent on snuffing those dreams and visions out just to maintain their control and status quo. I am very sad about what I see happening to America, I imagine this is what life would have been like between the Fall of Rome and the Rise of Charlemagne when the world, or the Western world entered the dark ages for 600 years. Only then the world was young and rejuvenated fast, but today we are well on the way to killing off nature and our wars destroy things we have learned over thousands of years ... and for nothing.

It's all good. Out of all Collins albums, I find myself listening to Hello I Must Be Going these days anyway. That's the one he made while going through a particularly nasty divorce.

On the bright side, Lily Collins was introduced to the world shortly after that, and she looks like she smells real nice. Swings and roundabouts!

I just realized I haven't encountered the expression " culture gap " in quite some time now.

What movie do you mean?

reply

Actually the 16th century poet, John Donne, wrote “Any man's death diminishes me, because I am involved in mankind; and therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls; it tolls for thee.” Maybe Quasimodo borrowed the quote.

Best thing about living in America is that all public venues are required by law to play James Brown's "Living in America" around the clock.
