You can always replace the keyboard

I avoid Toshiba.I bought one a few years back and replaced it not more than 2 years after buying it.Started getting blue screen crashes a month and a half in to using it.I don't trust their brand after that.

I don't need a new laptop (I hope), but there sure is something wrong with my HP. Recently, everytime I try to use either Google's or Yahoo's search engine, the following message appears from McAfee's Web Advisor ...
"Whoa! Are you sure you want to go there?

What the hell is this "my first tab" business? Have I picked up a virus or something? I did reboot my router thinking it might be related to whatever the FBI is warning us about, but it still happens.
I would search for a computer repair place, but of course, I can't use the search engine!
Oh well, I guess it's time to find The Yellow Pages. Sheesh, I can't remember the last time I actually opened one. I don't even remember where I put it.

And speaking of the message from McAfee, what is this "Whoa!" business? Did they hire Keanu Reeves or something?

Hate Toshiba. My keyboard starting failing right after the warranty expired. Guys at the Computer repair shop were honest and said its not cost effective to have keyboard replaced. Now I'm stuck using a shitty external keyboard. Should have gotten a Dell or HP.

Being 6 years old, unless its a high quality laptop its probably best to just replace it. You can fix a lot of things but depending on the laptop that may not be worth the time, research or cost.

I took the laptop into Staples and the guy basically said it was not worth repairing. So I bought a wired keyboard for $20.00 bucks and I am back in action. The keyboard on the laptop is dead. I press C and I get the number 5. I did take a look at the new laptops - they are expensive. I am just postponing the inevitable.

Is it possible it's just full of crap?
Could take an air gun and blow it out.

Before you spend money on a new one or on repairs, lemme ask you ... what do you need/use a laptop for?

The reason I ask is this. I do about 95+ percent of my computer stuff on my PC. I only use my laptop for travel, and then I only use it for email and a few other low CPU demand sort of things. So I didn't get a new one, I bought a refurbished laptop instead. The sort that was leased out to a business back when the laptop was new and cutting edge; now, when the lease has run out and time has passed the laptop by, the business/lessee doesn't want it any more and the leasing company is looking to sell it and be done with it. So they clean it up, repair whatever needs to be fixed, and put it up on Tiger Direct or some similar place. If you get one with a warranty (one year is common), and it's from a good vendor with a reputation to protect, you don't have to worry about being sold a piece of junk.

Anyway, I paid about $130 for a refurbished Lenovo. It doesn't have the horsepower to do much more than play a standard def video, so forget about gaming and such ... but if you don't need anything more than that, it's an option to consider.

EDIT -- sorry, I didn't see the post where you said you had paid $20 for a wireless KB and were good again. If your problem's solved, great. :)
