"Double Indemnity" and "Sunset Boulevard" don't actually have anyone looking into the camera though both address the audience through voice over -- prompting the question: does that count?
shareI would think not.
shareSure, why not? George of the Jungle never addressed the audience directly but the narrator and one of the antagonist gets into a argument with each other, breaking characters. The narrator is just a voiceover who's semi self aware of everything going on, even in real time with humorous detail.
shareI forgot about "George of the Jungle."
How about "Forrest Gump" and "Shawshank Redemption"? Both address the audience through voice over too.
