shareRowan and Martin's Laugh In!
shareVeddy interestink, but schtupid.
Recently I watched a couple of episodes of Laugh-In. It wasn't as funny as it was back then. Times have changed.
You bet your sweet bippy! I know what you mean. Even the surprise guest appearances from the likes of John Wayne no longer feel shocking. But then again, it's a comedy based on pop culture and current events from the 60s/70s. The sketches with the red-headed family are still just as funny!
shareThe only surprise during the re-watch was that I'd forgotten some of the huge stars who dropped in. You're right about the pop culture and current events aspect. The timeless comedy shows are the ones that don't rely on current events for their humor. They stick to universal situations.
I think the biggest draw to Laugh-In was that at the time, there was no other show like it.
With even more precision:::
"Sock it to me?"
Poor Judy Carne. She probably had mildew behind her ears for months. π
