Whether it's with original text or an interpretation. Mine are Macbeth 1971, Hamlet 1996, Romeo + Juliet 96, 10 Things I Hate About You, and Hamlet 2000. Also Zeffirelli's Romeo and Juliet is hard not to love. Oh and O.

Love Hamlet. Ethan Hawk and Bill Murray especially. also 10TIHAY

reply

Yeah I just watched Hamlet 2000. There are so many standout performances but I really understand Ethan's Hamlet more than most. Love Bill Murray always.

Oh man I had to look up Macbeth 2015. With Michael Fassbender I am so in.

How about the worse

Cymbeline 2015

reply

Not familiar but I'll take your word for it. What am I saying? Of course I will have to see it for myself, but a movie with Dakota Johnson is portent of doom.

reply

On the other hand I really like what Hawke and Michael Almereyda did with Hamlet so I have to see it to be sure

reply

Best friends, they always admired each other from afar and finally sealed the friendship deal when they did X-Men. Patrick was best man when Ian married his husband.

Titus (based on Titus Andronicus, naturally), starring Anthony Hopkins.

reply

I've been meaning to see this one

Olivier's Hamlet and Henry V, plus Throne of Blood (Kurosawa's samurai adaptation of Macbeth)

reply

I like Olivier's Shakespeare films, but I have not seen Kurosawa's Throne of Blood. That's going on the list to watch for sure.

reply

Shakespeare in Love.

Has anyone seen Richard III from 1995 with Ian Mckellen? I want to but haven't gotten around to watching it. It seems cool, restaged in a WWII-like scenario.
