What would you consider a thinking-person's thriller?

Dial M for Murder

"M" by Fritz Lang

a good one

Hitch's underrated "The Wrong Man" as well (though it does run out of steam near the end).

The Pelican Brief

"The Pelican Brief" is fun Alan J. Pakula -- though it's tough to beat his '70s thrillers like "All The President's Men." Still, like "Presumed Innocent," "Brief" proved the master of the thinking man's thriller hadn't lost his touch yet.

Presumed Innocent
Audition

Some of Ford's best work in "Innocent" (thought that awful hair cut of his is distracting).

Laura
Mystic River
Prisoners
The Big Sleep - impossible to understand however

Mystic River was good.
